I canceled Spring Break. What do I do now?

We were going on our first plane ride ever for Spring Break. We picked Destin, FL and we were geared up to travel during Spring Break which for us is the first full week of April. Now that Coronavirus has stopped a lot of things I asked the kids if they still wanted to go. They said…you can go but they would rather not. My son has asthma but if he had a good immune system we would be outta here because the ticket prices are cheap as hell. I canceled Spring Break and for the time being, I don’t think the kids will go back to school until After Spring break which will be mid-April. We were going to drive to Myrtle Beach then to Charleston but decided to just stay put to make sure we don’t catch anything unwanted. Here is a list of what to do when you cancel Spring Break.

What to do when you cancel Spring Break

Events are canceled, churches are online, and no one is meeting for lunch. I want these next few weeks to be intentional for my business and for my peace of mind. This is a much-needed break for me to do some things around my house and start Spring cleaning early so we will start with that.

Decorate my home – I will start with my den area and then move to my office. I hired a decorator for 2 other rooms in my home but the pricing was way too much so I decided to look around online to see what else I could do. I decided to give Havenly a chance. I paid for the basic service so I will be back with a review of them when I am done so stay tuned.

Do a staycation. I plan on exploring my area a little more. Maybe find some cute Instagram spots to take pictures at, see some of the hidden spots around town that I have never been too, and maybe check out some local parks.

Embrace my time at home

  • Bake new things with the kids
  • read a few books (any recommendations?)
  • If you have a boo do a date night in and if you are single date yourself with a romantic dinner for one
  • Declutter and clean up spaces that you don’t use like the top parts of the cabinet in your kitchen
  • do some workouts online because when I do have time for workouts…I don’t do them *side eye*

Donate to others

I’m a part of a widow group and they called and checked on us widows. If I needed food or anything they had the money ready to give me. I thought that was so nice to do so I told her that I am good but if anyone needs help please let me know and I will help them out. I want to also help pantries for the homeless, give my time to parents who may have to work, and help the elderly. They need a lot of help so please don’t forget about them.

Get some rest and go outside

I am always ripping and running so I am so thankful to be able to sleep in. I can do more when I am rested and it’s better for my health. I plan on spending a lot of time in my bed! I know that everyone wants to stay in but it’s okay to go in your backyard and have some fun with the kids. We have a basketball goal and we plan on playing some one on one to move around and walk around our neighborhood to get some sunshine and exercise.

Find a side hustle to bring in more income.

My girl wrote a great post about finding a side hustle. I think having more than one income is great during these times if you can handle it. You have some time so why not start something right quick.

We will do something during the summer when things die down some but I am kind of excited to stay home and chill with my kids. I only have 4 more summers with my son so I want to make the most of the time we have left before he is off to his new adventure of college or life beyond high school. Are your Spring Break plans canceled? Are you still going somewhere for Spring Break?

The kids said you can go, but it’s a strong no for them. I am 😭😭✌🏾✌🏾. I fully agree with them. During the time, I plan to read and clean my house to the max. There are a lot of free online classes being offered, so I’ll sign up for some of those too.

Looks like my Spring Break is canceled as well. My itinerary was getting worked on, but sadly it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I’m using this time to deep clean around the house, get extra rest, and also spring clean my blog and social networks.

We’re just trying to keep things fun. Lots of board games and movies in between homeschooling. Lots of video games for the kids while my husband and I work on other things.

We just learned our kids have no school through May 4th. I need to do some of these activities myself to keep busy.

I think we all had to cancel spring break this year. But there will be other opportunities, once this whole pandemic is over.

We didn’t have a spring break in school this year, so luckily we didn’t have any plans. I know very soon we will be working on some decluttering too.

We cancelled our Florida trip too. It’s so sad! I would much rather be quarantined on a beach but even those are closed I heard. Such a crazy time this is!

We are baking and binge watching Netflix shows. I don’t mind being inside but I worry for everyone who is sick.

These are definitely useful tips. I need to do some of these too like spring cleaning or some room decoration.

Those are some great tips to keep mind. We have plenty of plans that got cancelled due to the covid situation but I love that we have more time to spend as a family.
