5 things you can do for your creative business during Coronavirus

Y’all alright? I mean really are you all good? This Coronavirus got people shook. On a scale of 1 to 10 I’m only about a 5. I keep my immune system built up by taking certain meds and being an introvert. While I know that doesn’t stop the spread of Coronavirus it does help. I see bloggers panicking because sponsored posts are canceling things, some sponsored posts want things out now, and other sponsored posts have pushed things back. That means your money funny. So what are some things to do for your creative business while Coronavirus runs around in these streets? I have a few ideas!

Things to do for your creative business

  1. Update that media kit. I am doing this on my mac using pages. You can also use Adobe Spark which is my favorite over Canva. (I still don’t understand Canva personally) You can also create a URL to house your media kit like maybe your name and just do a one-page website. This is the perfect time to create your resume and update pictures while you are at it.
  2. Update your old blog posts. A lot of my older blog posts no longer serve me so I am deleting. I am also updating the pins and pictures on older ones and adding in some affiliate links. I am doing 5 per day. This helps clean your site up and SEO may love you.
  3. Schedule out your social media. I usually do this weekly but I think I may extend to the rest of the month. Make a plan to schedule out posts that go with certain national holidays, create a schedule of what to push out on social media, and make sure I am being sensitive to what’s going on while still maintaining my business. You can always change things later if you need too. I use Milanote for all of my ideas so it’s a great time to put everything together creatively for your business.
  4. Take a class. I usually use Creative Live but you can use Udemy or other online platforms. I love youtube university also it’s a great resource! Take a class to enhance your business and puts you ahead of the game when things get back to normal.
  5. Connect with new people online. I know social media will be the point of contact for most people while we are at home and not out here socializing in real life. Make it a point to meet some new people. Nothing wrong with your crew that you have now but find a way to connect with new people. Make it a point to connect with one new person a day bonus points if you can do more. Start with LinkedIn, then go to Instagram, and don’t forget about those Facebook Groups. Comment and engage because this is the perfect time to do so.

Some other things you can do

  • clean up your inbox and organize that
  • Clean and rearrange your office maybe buy a nice plant to wake it up
  • Touch up your about me page and make sure all of your links are working on the rest of your pages
  • Write a few blog posts about Coronavirus as I did with this post
  • Add another component to your blog. Maybe a craft section or a food part or a wellness category
  • Learn how to create Facebook ads
  • add on another form of income. VA is in high demand right now just make sure you are decent with your prices because Fiverr can do the same thing for cheaper
  • Batch your photos! I am teaching my son how to do this so he can start being my personal photographer

As a creative, I hope you have your savings in order because it’s tough out in these streets. I am truly grateful I have a regular job to go with my creative business. I do not take that for granted. Also, make sure you support your creatives by sharing their blog posts with others. How are you surviving out here as a creative business?

Great idea about deleting and/or refreshing older posts! Let’s hope this virus ends as quickly as it came! Be safe.

I’m loving these ideas, Kita. I’ve been meaning to clean out my inbox, so I’ll work on that this week. 🙂
