We are not alone

Today is my hubs birthday and I always write a post dedicated to him but today I want to remind you all that you are not alone during these times. We have to band together. You can’t let pride keep you from asking for help and you have to make sure you take precautions no matter how hard it is. We are not alone in this thing and I think the next few weeks will highlight just what Americans can do if we come together.

We are not alone

This is traumatizing to people especially people who are younger than me. I grew up in the old school era where we were prepared for everything under the sun. My mom is currently turning over in her grave because I don’t have a deep freezer which she told me to get several times before she passed away. I know mom…I know…I was not prepared food wise but I am prepared toilet tissue wise, soap wise, sanitary napkin wise, and water wise. The first thing I am going to do before this month ends is to buy me a deep freezer.

My kids school had its first teacher who was diagnosed and as of right now I don’t know who the teacher is so I have to monitor my kids extra these days especially my son who has asthma. I am more concerned with making sure he doesn’t get it than anything else. For me, I am fifty fifty when it comes to me. I just make sure I build our immune system and try to stay away from people as much as possible. Don’t forget it is also allergy season so while everyone is worried about corona I’m worried about allergies because I feel it.

Stores are currently out of stuff in my area but I am ok with frozen foods. Diets are a bust and so is 2020 lol. For the next few weeks, I will have to be mom, teacher, coach, and friend to my kids. Here is how we plan on doing things around here…

  1. There will be no electronics until 4pm. My kids will do school work either by me or their teacher in the mornings then their chore then they have to do some type of physical activity (we can walk or exercise I call it recess which some schools don’t have) Sadly my kids school isn’t equipped for online learning but they are doing the best that they can.
  2. I will be updating my blog posts and cleaning up each room in my house. I will also be decorating a lot. Online stuff will still be delivered I’ll just spray with Lysol.
  3. My daughter wants to start a blog so I may let her do that (a craft blog)
  4. My son will be learning how to take photos so he can be my personal photographer going forward
  5. I will be taking classes on Creative live and Youtube University. While the kids are in school I will be also!
  6. I plan on getting a tutor for my kids for extra help so that they don’t get far behind for next school year (my kids school is closed for the rest of year so no school till August 2020)
  7. My kids will be learning how to cook properly and that is part of their Home Economics time in the morning

Service industries will be hit the hardest and the incomes of people will be going down. Please keep this in mind and have grace towards those who are at hotels and restaurants they will lose first. Then it will trickle down to people not wanting to buy anything from overseas, etc. Housing will be hard to keep with no jobs, kids will be hungry, it’s going to be bad before it gets better but we have to show compassion to others no matter what.

Stay off of social media so that you don’t panic and keep up with your immune system as best as possible.

How will you be handling Coronavirus lockdown as I call it? What are your plans for yourself and your kids?

You’re correct!! We’re better banding together! I plan to use some of the free online tutors the library is providing. Next week, I’m holding an in-house Science Fair with the kids.

These are tough times but your rules do not seem unreasonable. I am here with my two older 15 and 18 year olds and they both are being kept busy by remote classes.

Yup, we’re all in this together! You have some good rules there. I just let my kids be on electronics whenever. These are crazy times and they do schoolwork and then get on and talk to friends. Anything to help them cope. I’ve been pretty lax so long as schoolwork gets done, which it has been.

It seems like you have a good plan for your family. I get so frustrated with people who aren’t doing their part to flatten the curve and minimize the spread of this horrible virus.

We homeschool already, so I guess in that respect we’ve got it easy, since we’ve already passed the learning curve there. We are just continuing as normal, though we are definitely missing our normal violin and cello lessons, horseback riding lessons, roller skating with friends, and going to church.

I like that you are using this time to teach your kids valuable skills. Photography will be awesome for your son to learn and your daughter will learn a lot about seo and audience building by starting her own blog.

Great idea to have a clear schedule for kids. We don’t have one, but I am thinking of creating one.

We’ve been staying home ad the last time we went for groceries was a week ago. And I just let my son sleep in since we started quarantining. He starts his virtual school day after he breakfast or brunch.

This is such a tough time for all of us. You are right that we are not alone. I like the rule no screen time until 4pm for kids!

You are so right, we are not alone and we will get through this. We have been doing our best to keep a routine but, relaxing. Kids are going through this too, so it’s tough.

This sounds like a wonderful plan! My kids have been spending too much time on their devices, and I need to cut off all the electronics. I like the idea of not being able to use them until 4pm.

I am now back to baking. I have lots of recipes on my list and now I have the time to try all of it. But of course I need to buy the ingredients.

Lock down is just a regular day for me for the most part. I’ve been medically retired for years and stay at home. I would come and go so that has changed a lil bit. I’m more cautious when I go out as I have an autoimmune disorder that makes me high risk. The kids are doing online school until April 17th at the moment. Not sure what will happen yet. I’ve got a senior too. I feel bad for him.

Happy birthday to your husband! We are on the 16th day of our community quarantine and we are doing fine so far. My kids are now all working from home, but I like that we now can enjoy a good breakfast without seeing them rushing out to door to get to work. One good thing, our house has never been this clean! I got rid of a lot of junk and will be doing so everyday. Stay safe and stay healthy!

Thanks for sharing your schedule! I may need to follow some of it. It hasn’t been easy, physically and mentally. I hope you and your family will stay safe.
