Everything is figureoutable

I am finally getting back to my love of reading. I have read a few books and broke down some of them on the blog with my favorite quotes and what I got out of them. You can read Joanna Gaines book that I reviewed here and Sara Jakes Roberts book Don’t settle for safe here. Today we are going to do Marie’s new book Everything is figureoutable.

Everything is Figureoutable

Before we get into this book and my favorite sentences. I want to first say I have been following Marie for quite some time. She is a no nonsense type of person which is who I am. I love her youtube channel and always wanted to be a part of her business school. I have heard good things over and over. Sadly I never had the money during the times that she had the B School but I know it’s well worth it.

The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply.

I get overwhelmed by book stuff because sometimes when you are trying to learn something from a book it takes you around and around for something that someone else can explain simply. For example when I first started photography I read a lot of books but it wasn’t until someone explained it to me in a simple manner that I started to understand photography better.

Taking action is the only path to change

This upcoming year I am going to welcome a lot of no’s because that is the only way I will change. Taking action and not worrying about a yes or a no. As long as I take the action I’m good.

When you change a belief, you change everything.

It starts with what you believe. If you believe you are a good blogger then you change everything. If you believe you are a good cook then you will become one. Look I was always skeptical about believing and saying things when I wasn’t that but these days if you can dream it you can do it. If you believe it you can change it.

Embrace the tact that if you were powerful enough to create an overcommitted and overstretched life, you’re powerful enough to uncreate it.

There is no magical fairy that will swoop down and clear your calendar. There is no one coming to help you get off of social media and put in more work. There is no one coming to organize or be better disciplined. Guess who has to do those things? Time flies but you are the pilot of that. I am learning to put my phone down more and get off of social media if I got obsessed with it I can surely become unobssessed with it.

Create before you consume

I think this was my favorite sentence in the entire book. Create something meaningful for your life before you consume others, your work, your kids, your hubs, etc. Take 10 min to meditate, take 15 min to exercise, take a few moments to eat something at a kitchen table without electronics. Take a moment for you before you get on social media. I take a few min in the mornings to say a prayer and speak good things over my life before I get on Facebook. Try it and make it a habit.

You never get stronger if you only do easy things

So you mean ordering Instacart isn’t making me stronger? It does help me save money but I sure do miss going to the store ordering what I know I want. I am getting ready to tackle indoor photography….it’s easy to do photoshoots in the light but indoor with an umbrella…I’m scared y’all but guess what easy doesn’t go very far. I gotta start pushing the limits and myself out of my comfort zone.

Get obsessed with making simple, daily progress.

I can’t do diets. It never sticks so 2 years ago I tried doing simple stuff on a daily basis. Drink 2 cups of water before I eat or drink anything. Park and walk in parking lots. Only eat sweets on the weekend. Those simple steps helped me to cut out a lot of sweets, walk more, and now I’m up to a gallon of water a day.

You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it

This was my second favorite quote of the book. People give up to quickly. Y’all there have been times I have wanted to throw away this blog but I keep trying more than once and I finally have my groove. Fight the battle a few times before you throw in the towel.

Bullshit makes good fertilizer.

I remember when I was in college there was a professor who said I would never become anything and he wondered why I was even in school. He shitted on my dreams and I used that to make good fertilizer. It took me a while I won’t lie but guess what that was some good fertilizer because his words make me get up every day to become what I was put on this earth to become.

Just because someone doesn’t like what you do doesn’t mean no one else will. A person’s opinion is not The Truth. It’s their truth.

Look people will have opinions and if you ask them then you will surely get it but the good news is it’s their opinion, not the truth. Don’t let folks opinions about you become your reality. I know I use to put so much weight in what others thought but these days I listen then do what I want anyway. I just ask sometimes to get clear on what I already knew from the start.

Those are just a few pointers of the book that I liked. Tell me which one above resonates with you?

What have you been reading lately?

I like that you say that you have to fight the battle more than once. This is something that is so true.

I LOVE this so much! Life is full of battles that we have to fight and a metric ton of fertilizer, as you said. BUT, that’s what makes us grow tall.

I have to get better at making smaller goals! I feel like I set myself up for disaster when I do not!

Sounds like an inspiring book! I’ve actually been on a self-help reading kick lately, so I may have to add this title to my list.
