With Vday around the corner, it’s always nice to be surprised with gifts or be the one surprising others with gifts. I hate surprises but I love it when I’m surprised lol. I know that sounds contradicting but it’s the truth. I love surprising not just my boo (who I may or may not have lol) but my friends and my kids. This year for Valentine’s Day I want to tell you about some unexpected gifts to give for Valentine’s day for anyone special in your life.

My daughter loves balloons so I am going to surprise her this year with a room full of them. How am I going to hide this? I have no idea yet but I know they aren’t allowed in my room so I may hide them in my closet the night before and when she goes to sleep fill the room up with balloons.

Jewelry. Not just any kind but something that holds a memory. I bought a friend of mine a ring that had her and her son’s birthstone in it. She is a single mother and works so hard that I wanted her to know that she is loved. She was surprised and cried some tears because she wasn’t expecting anything for Vday. I was happy to make her day. Some other jewelry ideas can be

• a birthstone
• a necklace from your home state
• everyday earrings that are staples because you just want to look good but simple
• supporting a small business or jewelry store on Etsy
• Pandora bracelets filled with their favorite things (great for teen girls too)

Personal gifts that speak from the heart always works and when you plan out something that is fun for that special person it brings the gift even more meaning. Here are some ideas

1. If they love candles take them candle making. Make it a date with your boo or your girlfriend. I love candles so any date that involves me making my own is great. Even better if it was a surprise that I had no idea about
2. Know someone special who can’t cook? Have them join you and do a cooking class online or in person. This is an unexpected surprise to bring out the chef in them and even you.
3. Surprise trips to a place that holds memories can be good but you have to plan this good. Make sure it’s a place that holds special memories and not sad ones.
4. Have a chef come to the home. Even if Rona wasn’t going on this is still special and unexpected especially for someone hard working. Surprising a single mom with a chef for dinner for one day or a few days can make a world of difference.
5. A cleaning service for a month or two will work also. Sometimes us ladies don’t always want flowers and chocolates we want some relief.
6. My son loves Basketball. I may surprise him and do a private tour of Phillips Arena here in GA. Even something basketball-related. Always find out what the person likes then plan accordingly.

A photoshoot is unexpected. I had a few people hire me last year for some surprise engagements and a surprise shoot for a family who hadn’t taken photos in over 10 years. I thought this was a nice way to surprise someone that you love. A way to keep the memories for years to come.
