Mothers Day gifts for Grandma

Mother’s Day isn’t just for mothers. It’s also a day to celebrate Grandmothers. Celebrating and honoring Grandmothers can look very similar to celebrating mothers. But, they typically have bigger families and greater mobility issues. Here are just a few gift ideas for Grandma this Mother’s Day.

Mothers Day gifts for Grandma

 Treasured Passages https://www.amazon.com/Treasured-Passages-Between-Grandparents-Grandchildren/dp/0979726964

Give Grandma the gift of conversation this Mother’s Day with Treasured Passages. When it’s completed this keepsake will contain a collection of loving letters passed between Grandma and Grandchild, something for them to look back on and cherish.

 Grandkid’s Teapot

This is an art project that works best if all the Grandkids live close together. Buy a plain ceramic teapot and decorate it with flowers made of the fingerprints of all of Grandma’s Grandchildren. Even if you can’t get all the Grandkids together in one place you can start the project and leave it incomplete so Grandma can finish it herself when she sees all the Grandkids throughout the year.

Tea Mug https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Artisans-Tea-Mug-Hand-Sculpted/dp/B00BRO1OJY

If an entire teapot is just too much tea for Grandma consider getting her a tea mug with a little pocket for the tea bag. It is sure to make Grandma smile every time she uses it. You can also pair this with a selection of teas or a subscription to a tea subscription box like Sips by, Field to Cup, Art of Tea, or Dollar Tea Club.

Photography Session With the Whole Family

Again, another gift that may be a little bit difficult to organize but, something to consider for the year ahead when you’re all in one place. Hire a local photographer (who is possibly a mother herself) to take professional photos of your family in a place that is beloved to your family, like Grandma’s garden. These photos will be one of a kind and taking them will be a memory that will stick with your family forever.

Family Tree https://www.amazon.com/Klikel-Family-Display-Hanging-Picture/dp/B00AIB2NQ0

If getting the whole family together is just too difficult you can still give Grandma the gift of photos of her family with a gorgeous family tree. This tree will allow you to put pictures into frames that Grandma can proudly display in her home. For a unique twist make sure each photo includes Grandma! It’s also the gift that keeps on giving as you can give Grandma new photos for the tree every few months as your kids grow older.

Steam Train Experience

These days the idea of giving experiences as gifts is really catching steam (see what I did there?) so then why not take Grandma on a fantastic experience that she’ll remember for years to come? We specifically picked steam trains because they are fairly easy to find in many local areas and they don’t require a lot of physical activity which may be more challenging for Grandma. Steam trains can also come in a variety of themes, you can find tea afternoons, adventures through ancient redwoods, even seeing Santa if you want to wait until December. This is a popular Mother’s Day activity though so if this is an idea you like you’ll want to book it right away.

Pay for her and a friend to go somewhere they’ve never been

I think sometimes grandma wants a break from you. Give her the gift of travel and pay for her and a close friend of hers to go somewhere they have never been. She has raised her family to allow her the time to have some fun before she is too old to have fun. Let her pick the place and you pay for the travel and the lodging allow her to have that trip of a lifetime that may be on her bucket list.

These are of course just a few ideas on what to give Grandma for Mother’s Day. The best thing you can give her though is the gift of time.

What fun ideas! I generally just bring my Nana Jo some chocolate. Or a framed photo. She doesn’t like to leave her retirement home anymore, so we just go to her!

I love the idea of having a photo shoot with the whole family. Our feeling does not get together all that often so I’m thinking that we need to do something like this for Mother’s Day. I know my mom would love it.

That’s a nice curated list of gifts. You’ve covered all different kinds of interests. Plus, many of these are one-of-a-kind that cannot be duplicated.

Is it already time to start thinking about Mother’s Day?? GAH!! My grandmother loves getting framed photos of all of us grandkids because she’s not on social media and doesn’t see everything we post.

These are delightful ideas to consider. Sometimes it’s not what you have given that counts, but it’s the thought.

This makes me tear up a little bit. My kids have prepared some gifts for my Mom but since we live so far away, they don’t get to experience the physical warmth of my Mom’s love. Skyping is good but a lot different.
