I’m excited to spend Valentine’s Day Alone

The day of love. The day that the florists and restaurants get packed with people showing out for the ones they love. Me…I will be spending it alone. The first year after the hubs died I don’t even remember what I did. For 2017 I spent the day doing photoshoots trying to take my mind off of things. For 2018 I spent it with my kids and we cooked something together at the house. This year though I”m excited to spend Valentine’s Day alone.

I’m excited to spend Valentine’s Day Alone

You don’t have to have a significant other to enjoy Valentine’s Day. The purpose of Valentine’s Day is to love. You have to love yourself before you can love others. Even if you have a boo spend that day doing something you love. I challenge you to spend Valentine’s this year alone even if it’s just for a few hours. It could be reading a good book, taking yourself out to dinner, booking a night in a hotel alone, getting a massage, or taking a good nap. So what’s exciting about spending Vday alone? Glad you asked…

First I get to spend some time with me no kids, no phone calls, no social media, just the basics me myself and I. I don’t have to buy anything for anyone nor do I have to feel pressured into doing something that I don’t want to do. I plan on doing something I love all week leading up to Valentine’s Day.

On Monday I think I will go and get my nails and eyebrows done (also my beard waxed) – I don’t get my nails done at all because well…my excuse has always been I have kids and I don’t want to pay for nails only to have them messed up. I am going to go and get my nails done this year so that I can have nice manicured hands even if it lasts a week.

On Tuesday I plan on taking myself to a brunch spot that I have been wanting to check out in my neck of the woods. They sell chicken and waffles and I have heard that it’s good. I know it’s weird to eat alone sometimes but I find that it actually is kind of therapeutic because we have to be comfortable spending time with ourselves.

On Wednesday I plan on getting a massage. I am long overdue for one. I love a good massage and I have already booked a massage that morning while the kids are in school.

On Thursday (Valentine’s Day) I am going to buy myself something from Amazon. I am thinking either a portable massage machine or some new pots and pans because I love to cook.

On Friday I plan on going out with some friends to unwind for the evening. I am going to a class to learn how to mix drinks.

I plan on documenting these experiences with my cell phone and doing some pictures of me doing each of these things so that I can look back on it in the future. When I get my next boo I can say that I took some time to love up on me.

We actually don’t even acknowledge Valentine’s Day in our house. I just don’t think it’s right to make people who don’t have a special someone in their lives feel bad, so my hubby and I skip it.

We don’t do much for Valentine’s Day, honestly. It’s too crowded. We might go out for lunch, and call it a day. Then I go out the next day and get cheap chocolate 😉

It sounds to me like you Are planning a absolutely fabulous week for yourself. I need to spoil myself more often and I don’t do it. Valentines is a perfect time to do that.

We never go out for Valentine’s Day. It’s too crowded and this holiday is so overrated. We will actually be at Disney World the week that Valentine’s Day falls this year. A massage sounds wonderful. I’m way overdue for one.

We don’t do anything special for valentines day and we don’t get anything for each other. After all these years we don’t need one day to tell us how much we are loved.

Your week sounds amazing. I could really use a massage. We tend to stay home on Valentine’s Day. Hubby gets chocolate and stuffed animals for me and our girls.

So true, you don’t need to be in a relationship with a significant other to still get to enjoy Valentine’s Day. A massage sounds like a fantastic idea.

And I think that’s awesome! There’s no “rule” about spending Valentines with someone! You do your thing, and as long as you’re happy, good for you!

I love this ideal and even though I am married and have a son I think I will take some time to pamper myself since we don’t do anything for Valentines and moms need treats sometimes.

We don’t do much Valentine’s Day. I love the decor and candy part. But we typically never go anywhere. I may do some “me time” this year.

I love that you’ve embraced this. I think as long as you are happy and doing something you love, it will be a perfect day.

A big chunk of my Valentine’s Day will be taking care of me, and hanging out with my gal pals. My husband and I always do something together but for us this is not a big deal holiday.

I can’t remember the last time I spent valentines with someone. As one who last celebrated the day when I was 19, and now in my 30s, I don’t see the fuss about valentines

I hope you enjoy your V-Day celebrations! I have always been a fan of Valentine’s Day – whether I was single or not. Your Wednesday plan sounds so relaxing: I would love to get a massage!

It’s just a regular day in our house. Hubby and I see each other everyday but also go on dates on regular basis so it’s like VD for us all year long.

I love the week you have planned for yourself. We usually splurge on crablegs and I cook them at home. But that was more affordable when my son was little and he didn’t eat as much. It’s just going to be another day for us. We have an photo job that evening anyway.
