However, I have found some tricks and tips that have worked for me when life comes down on hard times. I feel these tips are pertinent to what’s happening right now in our crazy world. So, keep reading for tips on How to Prepare Your Small Business for the Holidays During a Pandemic.
How to Prepare Your Small Business for the Holidays During a Pandemic
Play Catch Up
Depending on your business, the holidays can either be super busy or be a huge lull. If your business is the kind to be slow during the holidays, use the extra time to “tidy up.” Have random things you never had time to organize or get finished? Use the extra time to do that now.
Plan Plan Plan
You need to know your business and plan ahead for it. Is it going to be slow? Don’t have as much product on hand. Is it going to be super busy? Plan ahead and have extra products on hand. Does your blog get most of its traffic around the holidays? Post extra content around this time and promote the crap out of it. Know your business and make a game plan. Being prepared is key to a small business. Don’t miss out on those opportunities because you didn’t plan ahead.
Make a Schedule
Sit down and make a specific schedule. The holidays are one of those times where the days can get away from you. Whether that means you get too involved in work and miss out on family stuff, or you skip out too much on work, either way, you need a schedule. Be realistic with your schedule, but also keep yourself level. Outside of this, if you have employees, help them understand where they will have time off, etc.
Hire Help
If you want more time off around the holidays, but things need to keep rolling, hire temporary help. The money isn’t in the cards for everyone to do this, but it’s handy if you’re able to work it into the budget. Many times, you find it helps you be even more productive in general, even beyond the holidays.
Be Festive
One gigantic aspect we must remember is that people love when businesses are pertinent. Especially when it comes to the holidays, people want to feel the cheer and be drawn in. There are many types of businesses out there, but be festive in your own way that suits your business. Be pertinent and relatable to the public.
Plan Sales or Deals
Tis the time of year when people are spending a lot of money. Plan or offer some tantalizing deals or sales to draw them in. Plan in advance for this to ensure you have enough product, what the sale will be, profit and loss on the sale/discounts, etc.
In general, you know your business better than anyone. What are your biggest challenges around the holidays? Write them down and plan for them. Now you know how to prepare your small business for the holidays, even during a pandemic – you’ve got this!
