Hidden opportunities when a world crisis occurs

People are worried right now. About the Rona but also about finances. It’s easy for folks to say well your life matters more than money but when you have to live and money is a part of everyday living it’s easier said than done. Right now businesses that provide a need are what is making the money. If your business doesn’t provide a need no one will be buying right now unless they just have money to spend. Even if you have a job you will want to save vs spending on things you don’t need. I wanted to create some ways to pivot. Maybe you are ok but want opportunities to make some extra money. Here are some hidden opportunities when a world crisis occurs.

Hidden opportunities when a world crisis occurs

Junk removal service. With everyone trying to declutter and redecorate their homes they need someone to get rid of furniture or even help sell stuff to others. This is a huge business if you market it right. I am getting rid of my lawnmower and other stuff from my garage and I am looking to sell it but a lot of people don’t have trucks or access to it to get the stuff. I would love for there to be a company that can be the in-between person that can do this. I am also redecorating my living room and some of the furniture I have I can’t sell so I am just going to junk it. 1-800 junk is good I’ve used them before but they are expensive but if you need to get rid of the stuff and want to pay the price do it.

Personal Shopper. Look nothing wrong with Instacart. I have paid for the year with them but it’s hard to find a slot these days. Also, I hate so many people shopping for me. I like one or 2 people I can trust to get the second item on the shelf just in case someone coughs on the first item or the first item came from someone’s house. I want someone who can get all the money! So if you like grocery shopping and have the proper armor (gloves, masks, etc.) and you don’t mind going out during a crisis this is a perfect way to earn some extra cash. Let people know you grab the second item, let them know you will send the pics of their fruits and veggies, etc. You will make a killing!

Online tutoring or teaching. I’m sick of these kids and this school work. If you are smarter than a 3rd grader (I’m not) then you can make some money. Help a parent out by tutoring a child for an hour and that gives them a break to get their things done. That is needed these days. If you can do 3 kids at a time and can multitask then do that. Also, I am looking to learn photoshop and lightroom. This is a great time to put your knowledge to use. I am willing to pay for that help! Holla at me if you know Lightroom and can teach me step by step via zoom.

Social media content creator. No not someone who can help you curate your Instagram. I don’t do that but someone who can help you with ideas for your small business. A content person that actually comes up with what I need to post specific to my brand. I never know what to post and I just be doing random stuff I would love someone to help me create a post that fits my business. For example, if it’s national donut day and I am a food blogger maybe someone who can help me maximize that day by giving me content to post on my social media to get people to engage. If I sell shirts how can I create content to sell my shirts on certain days and what to post to get me followers. Small businesses need that!

Lawyers. I saw someone post that they are taking clients online to help them specifically dealing with landlords or jobs that want folks to come in and it’s not essential. She charges one flat rate and does all the work for you letting you know what to do and what paperwork to file.

LinkedIn writer. What would that be called? People are looking for jobs. If you are good with LinkedIn this is the perfect time for you to offer your service to do their LinkedIn for them to get jobs. Help them navigate the job market and offer extras. If you do their LinkedIn for a fee then you will put into 5 jobs for them and offer 1 free cover letter. Go above and beyond and get your money even if it’s just for right now.

If you are a salon owner offer to teach people how to do their own hair online one on one. I need help to learn how to braid would love for someone to walk me through that step by step. Maybe someone wants to put weave in…you can help them out. You can even create wigs and ship them at this time. Find a way to pivot!

Bartering is also very helpful during these times. I have bartered with a few people myself. I want a room decorated and I worked with a decorator in exchange for me taking their pictures. I also did a website for someone in exchange for her to create me some Pinterest pins. There are always hidden opportunities in everything that we do. What are some hidden opportunities that you see out there that is needed right now?

These are great ideas! I used to work as a professional resume analyst and would do resume critiques for people. This would probably be a good thing to start doing again. I used to offer 3 different levels of service up to and including a full resume re-write. Thanks for making me think outside the box.

My husband is an essential worker right now, so no need for the income. I would love to hire a personal shopper

There are a lot of opportunities that can help us earn some extra cash. Let me share a funny experience though. I saw an ad for a job as a part-time chat operator. The payment is a flat rate for every response you type in the chat box. Guess what. It was for a porn site! Haha. Sorry, not my cup of tea. Backed out of it even if the pay was good. Lesson learned. I will be very careful next time.

I’m so ready for the shutdowns to end. It’s been devastating to families all around the country – 22 million unemployment claims?? We are working hard in our state to end the stay at home orders. Thank you SO much for posting these money making ideas!
