Upscale Street Food with a Coastal Vibe

The name of the spot is Bartaco. I first had it last year when my girl Amber came into town and we went out to eat after her event. Never heard of it before but I was hooked when I went in. The atmosphere is a photographers dream. Go there in the summer and you probably won’t want to leave. You can go there on a girls night out, date night, or grab yourself something to go on Taco Tuesday. Now as always I give the real deal on food here in Atlanta because Atlanta isn’t known for a lot of great food spots. I’m sorry it’s the truth. When I go anywhere to eat the first thing I look for is the score. If the score isn’t a 90 or above I am doing a 360 right out of that place. Thankfully Bartaco had an A so now we can eat. Let’s talk about Bartaco Atlanta.

Bartaco Atlanta

The first thing I look for is friendliness and I got that with my experience. What I didn’t like was how complicated it was to order. It took me a min because you know I’m used to a menu and just ordering stuff it’s not that simple at Bartaco.

You see the menu…yep that’s it. You gotta pick out what you want and that is how it comes. A server had to explain to me how to do this because I was confused lol. Once I figured it out I was good now bring on my guac. I can tell the difference between fresh guac and guac that has been sitting for a min. Bartaco has fresh guac and the chips….YASSSSSSSS

I usually order the Guac (comes with chips) the Crispy Rock Shrimp and the Roasted Duck. Now they have versions with no meat in it for those that are vegan and they have gluten-free items. I have tried some of the other flavors but honestly, those two are my favorite. Now let’s talk about the drinks.

I had a Watermelon Margarita the last time I went and whew…that’s all I will say about that.

I have been to the one in Inman Park and Atlanta Chastain Park. I love the one on Inman Park just because of the scenery around it and I can find a parking spot much easier.

When it comes to Tacos Bartaco knows it’s stuff. BTW they have a secret taco that’s not on the menu it includes Crispy Brussels Sprouts Taco now before you frown your face up hear me out. This taco packs a hearty bite and heat, where crispy Brussel Sprouts are seasoned with Ancho Chili, drizzled with a Honey Chipotle Glaze, and served on top a bed of spicy curry carrot puree and garnished with house-made candied pepitas and pickled onions. Would you try it?

Here are some more tips

  • Get the corn don’t ask me any questions just do it
  • Get more than 3 tacos if you like to eat a lot. I normally do 6
  • Mix and match them so you can try which ones you like the best

What’s your favorite taco of all time?

Yup..Bartaco has 3 locations here in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill. Not the cheapest but I never mind paying for quality. Yes the menu could be a bit easier but worth the work ! I love their creative cocktails and the one in Chapel Hill has a unique indoor outdoor vibe. Good tacos for sure.

Those brussel sprout tacos sound divine! My favorite tacos are mushroom tacos. When I used to eat meat, I loved steak tacos!

This looks like a place I need to suggest for girls night. I think I would like to do the mix and match with a watermelon margarita!

I used to live in Georgia an hour south of Atlanta in a town called Forsyth. I didn’t know that Atlanta wasn’t known for good food. But now I know! Thanks for this post. My husband loves street tacos so we will especially be checking this place out when we visit ATL next.
