What I’m thankful for in 2020

How was your Thanksgiving? My neighbors had a lot of people at their homes so they didn’t pay attention to Rona. No one hardly cooked in my social circle everyone either ate out or picked up dinner. This year Thanksgiving was a bit different due to social distance but I made the best of it. I want to tell you what I’m thankful for in 2020 and what we did for Thanksgiving.

What I’m thankful for in 2020

I’m thankful for God having my back. Whew without him I would be lost. I remember there was a time that I couldn’t put food on the table or even think about Christmas but we have come so far by his grace and mercy. He knows how to set things up and do things in a way that will make you say OMG.

I’m thankful for my kids. They keep me on my toes at all times. They can be sweet and sour and the beauty of it is they are each a part of me in some form or fashion. It’s cute to see a little me in them and it’s also beneficial because I know how I would have wanted my mom to handle certain things so I can come from a different perspective.

Thankful for food. This is huge for me because about 5 or 6 years ago we were in a phase of do we pay bills or buy groceries. Robbing Peter to pay paul. We sometimes had to make hard choices every 2 weeks. So many people are struggling with this right now. Please be a blessing to others during these hard times because folks aren’t working and times are tough. If you are in need of food please don’t let pride stop you from opening your mouth to someone. If you speak to me on a reg or I know you and you need help please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can’t get you help personally I will find a way to help you. No one should have to worry about food during these times.

I’m thankful for my friends. I cherish the few I have that’s why I only have a few. They check on me, make sure I’m good, make sure my kids are good. Having good friends in your corner is priceless and you don’t need a lot of them 2 or 3 that you can count on is all that you need. I also want to say I’m thankful for my moms friends too. Since I don’t have a mom her 2 friends that are still alive always keep up with me.

My health. I can’t say enough about this again we are in trying times due to Rona and I am so thankful for my health. A few weeks ago my back was hurting and I went to the Dr. they said it was just me sitting so much but thank goodness for health insurance. Something that again a lot of people don’t have. I am also thankful for my snapchat nurse who puts me up on all the game when it comes to natural ways to keep our immune system up.

Thankful for my audience. You all make me cry with your messages, support, and just being there. So many of you have been with me from the beginning and it doesn’t go unnoticed. You all rock from sharing my shirts, my blog posts, to even sending me clients for photography.

Last but not least thankful for myself. I have come a long way. A long way from being that girl who didn’t think she was good enough to someone who says if you don’t pay any bills around here or have no direct effect over my life you don’t matter.

What I did for Thanksgiving

So this year we kept it low key. Normally we go over to Mimi’s house for the holidays but due to social distancing, we decided to stay put. I picked up some hours at work (hello time and a half) and decided not to cook. I ordered from a local chef here in Atlanta. Food was ok but my kids felt I could have cooked it better. I agree. We had to remix the food to eat it but we are thankful for food. I worked for a couple of hours while the kids watched movies. My tree normally goes up on Thanksgiving but this year we put it up on Halloween so my tree was up and ready. A few friends stopped by to pick up some food and check on me and then when I got off I watched Netflix and I chilled.

I also updated my website. Still working on it but let me know how you like it.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and you took some time to reflect on your year so far and what is to come for 2021.

I love that you focused on what you’re thankful for. I’ve been trying to do that, as well. With the year we’ve had, it’s all too easy to get bogged down in the negative.

I’m thankful for all of these as well, especially friends and family. I don’t think I’d be who I am today without them all.

The virus has helped keep things in perspective hasn’t it? Without family, friends and our health we sure don’t have much. Our Thanksgiving was low key too, but still cooked (gave to our local food bank as well). Cheers to a bright 2021!

In these trying times it’s important to focus on what we are thankful for. I’m thankful that my kids are happy and healthy. I’m thankful that I am self-employed and can continue to work from home and that my military husband has a job that is essential to this country.

I super agree. Having a few real friends or even just one real friend by your side is better than having tons of them yet no one really cares..😜

I think this is a great reminder after the year we have all had. There is much to be thankful for, even in all this mess.

It is important to have an attitude of gratitude and specifically account for things we are thankful to have in our lives s you did here.

Great post. We all must take this approach as the year comes to an end and focus on what we are grateful for instead of the overwhelm we may be feeling. I also feel very grateful and did some reflecting during Thanksgiving.
