What I really Want For Christmas

How was your Thanksgiving break? I’m finally back! I needed a mini break from the blog so I thought I would take 2 weeks. Then come back and give you 2 weeks of content then be out until 2019 lol. Honestly, though I took some time off to get my life in order. I have been over here running 3 businesses, working part-time, and being a mom. I was stressed all the way out and something needed to give. I had a long talk with a few folks over the Holiday break and I decided to KISS my stressed out life goodbye. (Kiss -Keep it Simple Stupid) Before I get into that let’s talk about what I really want for Christmas.

What I really want for Christmas

The iRobot or the Roomba or the vacuum that goes by itself. That’s all I want. Nothing else nothing more. Maybe some subscriptions to some magazines because I love magazines but other than that the vacuum is all I want. I also want the sister to it that can mop my floors but maybe I’m asking for too much. I never really got what I truly wanted for Christmas. I got what my mom could afford which wasn’t much but I always happy to get something under the tree. I got used to not getting what I wanted for the holidays and as I got older I understood that my mom did all that she could to keep a roof over our head. I am not that parent that goes all out for the holidays buying things that kids play with for one month and then that’s it. My kids have everything…xbox, tv’s, cell phone (my daugther will get hers for her 10th birthday), computers, etc. What else do they need? Some folks are even going broke trying to keep up with the Joneses. I know a few people maxing out credit cards just so their kids can have a nice Christmas. I think not! My kids understand that you get one thing under the tree and then we give to others. We also travel for the holidays so that is their gift. My birthday falls the week before Christmas so if I could just get that Roomba I will be straight for both.

As for my kids, my son needs new shoes so I will get him 2 pairs and my daughter asked for an iPad. I will get her the cheapest one I can find because I need it too to read my magazines that y’all will get me subscriptions too….right? We will be traveling to my hometown of Charleston, SC for the holidays because I haven’t been home since my mom died back in 2007 so it’s time to show my kids how I use to do it in Charleston for the holidays. It won’t be the same because my Aunt is gone and none of my friends are going home for the holidays but we will visit who we can and still have a great time.

Now let’s get into what I did over Thanksgiving break

  • Read the New Michelle Obama book (well listened to it thanks to Kenya)
  • Stayed in my house for 2 whole days straight
  • Ordered some deals online for myself because it’s time I buy for me
  • Slept (well not much because I stayed up late working on my website for my photography)
  • Ate (I actually cooked 2 days in a row a miracle)
  • Went to Friendsgiving with Mimi
  • Played endless amounts of Uno, Monopoly, and hide and seek
  • Shopped some more (ok I bought 2 more things for the kids so I won’t seem so selfish)
  • Took some family photos (as you can see throughout this post we haven’t taken photos as a family since my hubs died so we needed something) Pics taken by Mimi
  • Worked on my Kitaography website and put some new pictures up on my new Instagram account.
  • Closed Sweetgrass Roots

Ok yeah, that last one is a shocker. I know I just talked about having a Tshirt business the other day (I need to change my links in that post Y’all remind me) I am doing too much! What I want for Christmas is to simplify my life so I can enjoy more of it. I have decided (after getting cussed out by 2 people in particular) to put my t-shirts over here under the shop tab. That way I can keep everything on one site. The t-shirts I was selling still represents who I am and It’s Really Kita is who I am so the branding isn’t off at all. Now you can shop when you come to my site and I can be at ease. I feel a weight lifted off of me. I know y’all think I’m crazy as hell doing all this shat but hey that’s what being an entrepreneur is…seeing what works and what doesn’t work and then adjusting. My fan base is here so I’m not losing anything by closing Sweetgrass Roots. Now I can really have more rachet shirts that represent who I am. Shop will open by Christmas I hope so I don’t eff with my money honey. Like Tasha Cobb says….I’m getting ready.

I absolutely need the ROOMBa and it’s mop sister. LOL! Absolutely. You did all the things over the Thanksgiving break. I wonder who you were speaking to. LOL. Enjoy Charleston. I went once but it was unseasonable cold and I didn’t get to truly discover the town. I want to go with you.

You are doing a lot so you deserve the breaks, and all the gifts! A roomba would be amazing 🙂 I agree with trying to keep up with the Joneses, I am trying to keep the holiday as simple as possible!

I already told my kids that we’re not going to be breaking the bank for Christmas or birthdays. I asked them to pick out three gifts under a certain amount, they did, and I’ve’ already ordered them, wrapped them, and put them under the tree. Their dad got them two extra surprise gifts and that’s all they’re getting this year.

Next year, I definitely want to replace giving physical gifts with taking a trip somewhere. I’ve always wanted to wake up in the mountains surrounded by snow on Christmas morning. So we might do that. I hope you get your iRobot or Roomba.

I love that tradition of giving to others. I refuse to go broke buying gifts for kids. And check out the bObsweep too btw. It sweeps and mops. Love it! I will admit it’s better in big open spaces though. It gets stuck around the cabinets in our kitchen.

Roomba sounds like a GREAT idea as a gift to myself also ! Giving is so much fun and to bless others is the ultimate gift to oneself. Glad you gave yourself a break. Rest and occasional disconnect is essential.

The older I got the more I understood the important of USEFUL gifts lol! I wish I would have asked for more practical things so many years ago. I love the idea of the robot vacuum as a gift. You have a beautiful family!

I am so with you on simplifying life to enjoy it more. Sometimes we get caught up in the whole to-do of everything that we forget we only have such precious time here on Earth.

As a freelance journalist for magazines, it makes my heart happy to know you still love magazine subscriptions. On another note, I would love to get s roomba also. I also need a hand vac. It would make life so much easier.

It’s been a long time since I’ve really asked myself what I want for Christmas! Thanks for sharing your wish list with us – I think I want a Rooma too. I swear there’s always something vacuum or sweep!

This year I won’t be breaking the bank. What I really want is structure and a game plan for a great 2019. I’ll take a good vacuum though!

I hope you get everything you want for Christmas. I’m sure you deserve every bit of it. I’m not expecting to get I want. I want a long vacation on an island. Lol.
