I must admit we didn’t do much this Summer. We only went out of town once and it was a working trip so I feel like we didn’t really get to do much so I gathered up my laziness and threw it out the window and decided to do a last min week vacation…without leaving town. I didn’t feel like driving for hours I already do that around Atlanta so I was like I might as well stay put and deal. Let me give you 3 ways to go on vacation without leaving your town.
Ways to go on vacation without leaving your town
First, find a spot that you can stay overnight that is not a hotel. The perfect place for this is Ponce City Market. Did you know that you can stay there as a getaway for a couple of nights and be in the mist of a vibe that Ponce has to offer? I had no idea you could do this. Might I suggest making it a couples getaway night for you and your boo. This works as a great way to get away from the kids and have some fun. I would if I had a boo but I can’t find a rich man lol. Getting back to the spot at hand it’s a great way for you to go by yourself to get away along with your family. They have studio space, one bedroom and they go up to 3 bedrooms. It’s a great view of the city and you can enjoy all that ponce has to offer without leaving the area or getting in a car. Or you can stay in and order uber eats that will work too. These can also be used for long term rentals so if you are moving to Atlanta and need a place to stay while you get your permanent accommodations secured this is the place to be. You probably won’t want to leave your area. You can also cook and everything is already there for you so you don’t have to bring anything but a few pieces of clothes and even then they have a washer and dryer in all of the units.
Second, get a map of your area close your eyes and then go wherever your finger points too. Make it an adventure for you and your family. We did this and ended up near Lake Oconee which was so beautiful! My phone didn’t work down there but we had a blast getting lost and discovering things. I had no idea they had a Ritz-Carlton down there I was like hmmmm they fancy fancy lol. They also have cottages you can stay at. Now to stay was a bit more than my pocketbook can handle but the scenery around there is gorgeous.
Finally, explore right where you live and check out what your town has to offer. I live on the East Side of Atlanta and I haven’t been everywhere right in the city I live in so we played tourist one day and ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner right where I pay taxes at. We discovered a new hidden spot to eat, walked up on a movie being filmed, and ate ice cream at a new ice cream place.
Here are a few other ways you can enjoy your Summer without actually leaving your town.
Turn your phones off and stay off of social media. I have been pretty lowkey this summer with social media. I have decided to take weekends off to spend more time with my kids and to actually talk to them. They were mad that they couldn’t get on their electronics either but hey they will get over it.
Read a book that will take you to another world. I was able to finish 5 books this Summer which is impossible when school starts.
Give yourself a spa day right in your house. Get some items and make it a spa day. I did this for my daughter and I and we had a blast and didn’t even leave our house
Rent a bouncy house that has the water slide or get a slip and slide. Have your own adventure in your backyard. Make it fun by adding some water. You don’t have to go anywhere and you can enjoy your summer without spending a lot of money.
Spend the night at a good friends house that doesn’t live far from you. I do this all the time. One of my friends lives about 40 min from me so I will pack up the kids and I and stay in her extra room and it’s like we are away from home without being far and I don’t have to pay her shat lol.
So if money is tight or you don’t feel like driving take these tips and enjoy where you live.

July 19, 2019 at 6:44 pmI absolutely love these ideas. There are probably so many cool places nearby that I’ve passed over. I definitely like the idea of staying a night or two in a really nice room like at the Ponce City Market.

July 19, 2019 at 7:20 pmI will have to keep these in mind! We’re in San Antonio, so we have a lot of history around us to check out, so we’ve been doing that. Plus, I’m okay with reading while a candle is going in the house, and I can sort of pretend it’s a spa.

July 19, 2019 at 10:05 pmI am so glad I came here today because I’m pretty sure that Lake Oconee is pretty close to us. I have to look on the map but I live in western SC. We have been doing this mostly for financial reasons (we’re taking a 6-week vacation next summer so we’re trying to be good this year & plus we haven’t lived here long so most things are new to us).
