Uncle Ernie’s Pub n Grub Athens, GA

Y’all I love doing my food reviews and hope to bring you at least one a month on here. This is where I go in and eat at spots and I come back to give you the real deal about the places I eat at. Sorta like a food critic but in my own way. Today I’m diving into Uncle Ernie’s Pub n Grub that is located in Athen’s GA. I will tell you a little about the place, let you know how the service was, and if you should put it on your list if you ever visit Athens, GA.

So I love Athens, GA it’s not too far from me since I live East of Atlanta. It actually takes me about 1 hr and a half to get there from where I live so I stay out there a lot. My kids tutor lives out there (shout out to Ms. Amy who is a godsend with that math she is also a 5th grade teacher so there is that) I also have a good friend that stays out there and I have 3 photography clients that I visit every 3 months or so to do some pictures with. Athens is my spot and every time I go there I am always discovering new places to eat. Since I was meeting the kids tutor for an early dinner I asked her where she thought we should eat. She was like hell I don’t know so she asked around and we picked Uncle Ernie’s.

I thought it would be packed especially since we just came back from a UGA basketball game. Luckily it wasn’t and we were able to sit where we want. Parking near there was ok but you do have to pay to park on the street. Also, it probably gets packed in there during football season or any major sports so I would be cautious of that when you go there to eat. UGA is a huge school so I am sure on a reg football night it’s packed.

The bar is the first thing you notice when you walk into the place. If I were going to UGA this would be the place to be to unwind on the weekend (only if you are 21 and older *side eye*)

Let’s talk food options. I’m on a mission to lose weight. I want to be under 200 pounds by June 1st in order to do that I need to watch what I eat. I love places that have options for those trying to lose weight. The kids tutor is on a keto diet and she was able to get a burger wrapped in lettuce. I opted for wheat bread for my burger instead of the reg white bread that I usually get. I did sweet potato fries and water as my drink. They have other various options for you to choose from if you want to stay on the healthy side. I wanted to get a salad but our waitress…the look she gave us when I asked her how the salad was…that look told me all that I needed to know so I opted not to get a salad. Make sure you all ask the waiter whats good and what’s not in any restaurant you go to. They are normally honest with you most of the time. Check their response to because a look tells a lot.

Prices weren’t bad at all either. Also, it was kid-friendly I don’t know how it would be on a packed night but I took my kids in there. Again I would check the night you go make sure it’s not a game playing or something going on in the city sports-wise before you take your kids there.

Now let’s talk food itself. All of us got the burger my daughter got a reg burger my son and I who are pre diabetes got the wheat bun. On a scale of 1 to 10 I miss my reg buns…..give me a moment to cry it out……

Ok on a scale of 1 to 10 I give this a 9 only because I wasn’t use to eating wheat bread with a burger. Fries were excellent though. The bread was larger than the burger itself so I had to tear off the ends. It was still good though!

Always go for what the spot is known for. If they are known for burgers and their burgers aren’t good…exit immediately lol. Y’all know I always look at scores to right? The score at Uncle Ernie’s Pub n Grub Athens, GA was an A when I went so that’s good in my book. If a restaurant has a low score that means they don’t care about my health and willing to put anything out there. If I spend money I want to know my money is being spent in a place that at least cares to have a decent health score.

So if you are ever in Athens, GA for a UGA game or anything of that nature make sure you check out Uncle Ernie’s Pub n Grub in Athens, GA. What do you look for when you go to a bar to eat? Do you like bar food? What’s your favorite bar in your neck of the woods?

Out of all of the years that I lived in GA, I never went out to Athens. We’re considering moving back to GA. If we do, I’m definitely heading to Athen and will check out this cute pub.
