What to do in Conyers Georgia this Summer

I have no plans on traveling this summer as of yet. Instead, I will explore my area and check out what there is to do around Conyers, GA. So I don’t exactly live in Atlanta I live in the outskirts in a town east of Atlanta called Conyers, GA.  A  place where the houses are dirt cheap (for now) since it’s not close to the city and the people are very centered around the home life and the suburban/country life. So I have yet to explore where I live so I will be doing that this summer with a few things in and around Conyers, Covington, Decatur, and Mcdonough, GA.

What to do in Conyers Georgia this summer?

If you are looking for activities around Atlanta here is a great list of vacation ideas in Atlanta for under $100

Visit Arabia Mountain

I have been to Stone Mountain countless of times but never to Arabia Mountain. How do I bypass this mountain and go straight to Stone Mountain? This is a great place for photoshoots too. I have heard that the sun shines the best in the evening so I must check it out.

Vampire Diaries

This is actually filmed in Covington, GA. I like that you can actually visit the set and see some of the scenes on a lazy afternoon. Do you know that there are a lot of movies shot in Covington, GA. I have been an extra on two of them lol

The Twelve Oaks Bed and Breakfast

I usually head downtown for a getaway but now I can head right into Downtown Covington, GA. I have been here a few times to take photos but I have never stayed. It looks beautiful in the spring and I know it’s even nicer in the winter. If you are ever in town make sure you hit this place up. I think I will do a getaway right quick from the kids one weekend.

Monastery of the Holy Spirit

I have passed this a lot and you know I never knew exactly what it was but I finally stopped one day to find out and realized it was a place of peace. I didn’t go all the way inside but I imagine that this is a place where you can meditate and get to know yourself again. I will definitely be going here this summer.

Scoops Ice Cream

My favorite spot for ice cream on a hot summer evening is Scoops. Now I have been here many times but it’s on my bucket list to go at least once a week to take the kids this summer. It’s filled with all types of sweet treats and it reminds you of an old ice cream shop.

Georgia International Horsepark

If your kids love horses this is the place to be. I have visited this park before but never actually saw a horse….hmmmm. We will have to fix that this summer and see what types of events will be taking place. I have been on a horse twice. Once when I was younger and once as an adult and the adult time…wasn’t good to my lady parts lol

Alcovy Conservation Center

Wildlife….that’s not in the zoo. I don’t know about this one but I am sure it’s a fab place to visit. We will visit this and maybe see some wildlife up close and personal.

Lake Varner

I don’t hate fishing but I don’t love it. I know the hubs loved fishing so we will take out his old fishing rods and go fishing. I think this would be a great way to celebrate Fathers Day this year in remembrance of him.

Southern Belle Farm

Picking strawberries and then coming home to make something sweet to eat…I give this a thumbs up. We will be visiting this spot during the summer and adding this to our bucket list.

Paint Ball

My son wanted to do this for his birthday but I waited too late. Plus I didn’t want to tell him that I wasn’t going outside in that hot heat to get shot by paintballs but I told him we would put it on our bucket list for the summer

Atlanta Motor Speedway

I have been here for other events but never for any real action. I have always loved fast cars so this is a great way to do another sport besides the regular ones we always attend. My kids and I have never been to a racing event so this will be a must for this summer.

So that’s about it on our bucket list. I won’t be going to Atlanta if I can help it. We will pick about two activities a week and have fun right where I live. This saves on gas and we can explore our town and see what it has to offer. Do you explore your town often? What’s one place in your area that you have never been before? Which activity would you do in Conyers, Georgia this Summer?

I was born and raised in south GA and then lived in Atlanta for a while. I’ve been to so many attractions but I’ve never visited any that you mentioned here. I need to head back to my home state for a visit and check out all the fun things to do.

There’s so much to do in Georgia! I hope to go there one day. I’d want to go to the World of Coke since I’m obsessed with Diet Coke. I think they might be filming Stranger Things there too. Or maybe that’s South Carolina. I just know they film lots of things in Georgia!

I visit Atlanta to see family and can appreciate this list of other things to do when in the area. Here in NC, we have some country, some city, beach, and mountains. There are some nearby waterfalls I’d like to visit.

I think staying home for the summer is a great idea. We love playing tourist and traveling to places within 50 miles of our own home.

We always try and stay close to home for a quick vacation when we don’t have time or funds to plan a big beach trip. It looks like you’ve got so many wonderful things to do.

It looks like there’s a lot to do in your hometown. I think its great to explore where you live and then it makes you an expert on that location. We’ll be doing somewhat the same this summer along with camping trips only a few hours from us.

I think it’s awesome how peaceful this place is, definitely perfect for a relaxing vacation. I knew the place looked familiar as well, I didn’t know that this is where they filmed the Vampire Diaries! So awesome!

I haven’t been to Georgia in a couple years! The past couple times I’ve visited, we stayed in Peachtree City. I can’t wait until I get to visit GA again.

The Monastery sounds like something I’d love to see. And I am a huuuuge Vampire Diaries fan. I’ve probably watched the entire series through about 12 times haha. I would have loved to see it being filmed. I had no idea it was filmed there but will definitely be adding this to my list when I visit my cousin in Atlanta!
