Spend the day in Asheville NC

I know Rona is going on. Trust me I know but I am the type of person that has to live a little within safety measures so I am going out of town but with precaution. During Fall break I told the kids we would go somewhere but I didn’t plan ahead and so I had to cancel that promise. One thing with kids they won’t let you forget the promises that you make. So I had to plan a quick weekend trip and the perfect place to go was Asheville, NC. So let’s see what all we did, where we ate, and how I spend the day in Asheville, NC.

Spend the day in Asheville NC

This was a quick getaway truly we only had one day to do some stuff. I brought my friend along with me so that she can get out of town also because it’s not often you get to catch up with friends these days. I thought it would be good for her kids to leave the house and do something different. We left late on Friday so we didn’t arrive until about 11pm that night. (traffic was horrendous what should have taken 3 hours to drive took about 5)

We didn’t do anything but sleep that night so our day really started that Saturday.

Before we get into our day. Let me tell you about the best place to stay in Asheville if you want an Airbnb type of vibe. Two words. Asheville Cottages. I’ve stayed there before so it’s my favorite spot when I don’t want to do hotels. The owners are so nice and it makes you feel like you are in a cabin but a fancy one. Now it is kind of expensive so I would split that cost with others but it’s worth it. I tried to enjoy the moment as much as I could so there weren’t a lot of photos.

Saturday we got up around 11am and went to eat at Sunny Point Cafe in Asheville. The line was long but the food was well worth it. They had a garden in the back and it was nice to tour that. So we were able to tour the gardens and eat good at the same time knocking out two birds with one stone. Video is done by RLW 3 Photography

After we ate there we headed over to the outlet to do some shopping. People were out and about and everyone had on masks. They only let a few people in the store at a time so I loved that they took the time to make sure everyone was safe. We spent a few hours at the outlet walkiong off that food then came back and played some games at the cottage. We did have dinner at Buxton Hall Barbecue the service was good but the food wasn’t. We got it to go and it wasn’t good at all so we ended up having Waffle house.

The next day we got up late and decided to have donuts at Holes. Here is a tip they are very popular so order your donuts before you go so that you woudln’t have to wait in the long line. The wait was over an hour and I’m sure it’s not like that in the weekday but since it was a Sunday morning yeah it was a long wait but worth it.

Leaving out we had to stop at Sunny point again becuase the food was just that good.

Note: Get the omelette sanwhich on the crossaint chile……best thing on the menu.

The main thing about this trip was to relax. Since Rona is still around I wanted a change of scenery and that is what Asheville provided us. You can go visit some of the area attractions but sometimes it’s ok to be lazy and sit down somewhere. Enjoy being still instead of going everywhere. If we had more time we would have gone to the breweries in town or apple picking but we truly just wanted to rest. I know a lot of us want to hit up all the places when we are in a new city or town but pick 2 places that you truly want to see and then rest especially if it’s a short trip.

Have you taken any road trips? Do you like going to the mountains?

What a nice area. I’ll keep it in mind. We have family in Fayetteville so I’ll see how far this is from there. I’d love to try that cafe!

I went here back in 2009, I think was the year, for a Type-A Mom (no longer called that) conference. It was a blast. This area is so beautiful and I loved the local pubs.

I love road trips and I am still in awe of how convenient they can be especially during this time. We all need a change of scenery and if we can do so with a road trip, that would make a lot of difference to our well-being.

We haven’t made any trips since that first month of this year because of CoVid19 but I will make sure to have one once this pandemic is gone. I am glad that you have a fun time that day.

Well, Sunny Point Cafe sounds like a winner. I’ll be adding it to my list. The plant Mom in me would love to see the garden. I’ll definitely be touring the winery and breweries.
