Places to take photos at in Atlanta, GA

As most of you know I have a photography business and people are always asking me…where are some great places to take photos at in Atlanta. Now I know most people think Centennial Olympic  Park or Piedmont Park or Ponce but there are actually some better places to take photos at that I want to talk about in this post. I will be updating this post periodically because this not only helps you out but helps me out. I can always refer back to this post for future references. So let’s get started with places to take photos at in Atlanta, GA

Now I mentioned both parks above but they stay packed. I am that photographer that hates taking photos in packed areas. I prefer a lesser-known park that isn’t as crowded. I will do the above parks but not on the weekends.

Serenbe Farms
Delta Museum
If you need another airport check out Peachtree Dekalb
High Museum (pricing is $200)
Airbnb
Airbnb is always great to take photos at. Make sure you let the owners know what you are doing first. Most won’t have a problem but a few may.
Botanical Gardens
I have shot here before. It’s $250 to shoot for 2 hours unless they have changed. My advice is to mini sessions or have a special for 2 hours to do photos for the holidays, Mother’s Day, or some type of holiday. Where you can get more people in and let your shoots pay for that $250
Ponce City Market
Walking trail in the back is good. They do have a policy to shoot here so call before you go to find out. I normally shoot here in the mornings in the weekday because weekends are to busy.
Lots of bugs and it’s a far walk from the parking to the waterfall be prepared for that.
McDaniel farm park (in Duluth)
Train Museum
Goat Farm
Vines Garden
There is a fee for this one
There is a fee to shoot here but they have a beach
A lot of people shoot here it’s pretty but can be busy especially on weekends
There is a fee and you have to have insurance to shoot here. The insurance for the year is usually around $250 so if you need a studio to shoot at on a reg basis get this place. I will say Airbnb’s are a bit cheaper in my opinion and you can utilize the outside too but this is a great spot to host events at or classes.
I have done many shoots at this spot. Talk to the owners the midtown one is my fav!
Gorgeous spot but kind of far if you aren’t in the Atlanta area.
This spot is beautiful! There is a fee to shoot here.
Here is another list of some fab places with unique backgrounds
If you are looking for a studio space to rent check out this search directory for some amazing spots.
Now I have shot at most of the places mentioned above. If I haven’t shot there I’ve been there I will be adding to this list as I explore Atlanta more. When I do a photoshoot I always like to shoot what the person likes so they can be comfortable. For example, if I’m doing a senior portrait and they like ice cream we will shoot at an ice cream shop. There are a few small-town ones that if you ask, you can shoot there. I have shot in a library before and I have used the outside of malls. The middle of certain streets is good too. Notice I said certain streets. Always ask before you just show up somewhere and do your research because some of these places above may have changed their policies.
If you have any other places that I didn’t mention that you know of in Atlanta. Let me know!
