Parking Lot shenanigans + Wed Links

My kids get out of school at 2:15 if you don’t arrive in the line by 1:30 you are late. Usually, the older folks (grandma and dem) are lined up early because they have nothing to do. People like me who work from home can kind of schedule my times to go get the kids and I usually arrive after the old folks. Everyone else is coming on their lunch breaks. There is a guy in our parking lot that sells things. I call him the parking lot pimp. He was really bad last year but he has since calmed down since someone snitched on him but he still tries to sell stuff from time to time. Today he is selling cupckaes….

Me: Excuse me sir. Why are you selling baked goods? Nobody knows you, why would I buy baked goods from a man I don’t know? Did you cook the stuff or did your wife cook it? Is it gluten-free, what kind of sugar you use?

Parking Lot Pimp: You are asking way too many questions why don’t you buy something and taste it. I will give you a cupcake for free

Me: (I take the cupcake and smell it)

Parking Lot Pimp: Eat it

Me: Sir, who are you talking to, you can have your cupcake back I will eat it when I have dissected it completely.

He moves on to another car and people really are buying his stuff

BTW I never ate the cupcake I threw it in the trash. I could tell it was not moist when I picked it apart, looked like cornbread.

Also, in the line, we have the grandma who I believe is drunk. She lives out near me so in the mornings she is in front of me and in the evenings she is in front of me. She swerves like a mug, slams on brakes and no one is in front of her, and doesn’t know how to stop at a stop sign for a few seconds then go, she just sits there for at least a minute. The other day I saw her get out of the car and she walked to the trunk and tripped on her tire…..that was on the car. I was like what in the world yeah she would not be picking my kids up.

I have more stories from the car line but it’s too much for one day. Do you have any stories from the car line?

That is bizarre. Here he would never be allowed to do that. People aren’t allowed on school property unless they are a parent, so he’d have to find someplace new to sell his crap LOL.

Thank God the car line days are behind me! I do remember a crazy teacher that walked my child to the car and screamed at me that my child needed a hat. It wasn’t even cold. I just looked at her like she was a complete idiot. A couple of days later I heard that she had a nervous breakdown and had to be committed.

How odd! It makes me thankful that I don’t use the car line. Thank goodness for buses! I don’t think I’d have the patience for a car line.

When we have early dismissal there are always cars that don’t know what they are doing in the Looper Line. My son calls them Loobs. They slow everything down.

I’m sure all of these shenanigans make your parking lot time go by fast. I would not have eaten the cupcake as well. I feel that you asked him all of the appropriate questions.

Car lines can be the worst sometimes. I hate seeing you go through something like that, people can be so rude somethings. The cupcake seemed nasty anyways, good choice of throwing it away.

I would think the local health inspector would not be ok with this type of sales. It reminds of not taking unwrapped candy at Halloween

The car line may be the death of me. I always get behind the one who pulls in 5 feet further back from the pickup spot her kid is standing in. Thus making the one at the end have to walk 1/2 mile through the parking lot to their car.

Yes, I agree that it’s important to invest in one’s marriage, one’s business and one’s family. Putting in some time and effort (and money occasionally) will pay off big time over the long run.

I can’t believe the school isn’t monitoring who is selling stuff in the school line. That’s just crazy. I think it was smart that you threw it away.

I can’t deal with the school pick ups and drop offs! It’s definitely an interesting people-watching time. And stressful, lol!

Sounds like the parking lot in your children’s school is entertaining! Lol. I guess that man’s just trying to make a living but you have a point about not buying baked goods or any kind of food from people. Times like these, it’s hard to trust anyone.

I agree with you. I don’t think it is a good idea to buy food from a stranger especially in a school car line. You can not trust any one any more these days. I mean even if they are doing honest business, at the back of your mind, you may have doubts that the food may be laced with drugs or something nasty.

That’s pretty hilarious. Love the nickname for the dude who sells stuff. I think it’s pretty interesting to drive there everyday and see something new each time.

Those were a series of weird things which i would better shrug off. I bet seeing your kids at the end of the day really made your day better.

That was an interesting experience and one that would have left me walking away scratching my head. I would have been laughing all day on the grandma adventures. She sounded like she was truly drugged up or something.

That grandma must have been a crazy driver in her prime years. She sounds interesting. How does one trip on the tyres of a car? I can not even imagine it. Your school runs are more colourful than mine, lol.
