Nissan puts safety first

A few weeks ago I was invited to an event that highlighted Nissans. Not just the car itself but the safety features that Nissan is introducing for everyone especially kids. When I was little the first car I ever wanted was a Nissan Pathfinder you know the old ones that are still on the road these days (yes Nissans last a long time Y’all) Let’s talk about the event and how Nissan puts safety first.

Nissan puts safety First

The event was held at No Mas Cantina here in Atlanta, GA. It was my first time at this spot. It was very colorful and it was nice that they had an area for people to have events. You know anytime I come to a Mexican spot I have to have the guac if the guac is good then I’m good. I will tell you how the food is at the end let’s get into what I learned with the Blogging Mamas Safety Academy.

Nissan puts safety first

Kids under 13 should always be in the back seat.

Did you know this? My son is 12 and sometimes sits in the front. I have seen kids younger than him in the front seats. The law in GA states that children under eight years of age in a passenger automobile, van, or pickup truck, other than a taxicab or a public transit vehicle shall be properly restrained in a child passenger restraining system appropriate for such child’s height and weight and approved by the United States Department of Transportation under provisions of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 213. Children eight years of age or younger must ride in the back seat. If the back seat is occupied by other passengers your child may ride in the front seat, provided he or she is secured in a booster or child safety seat. Now that I know my son will not be riding in the front seat although he can because he is 140 pounds but my purse sits on the front seat so he still goes to back.

Kids are 12 x more of a distraction to a driver than talking on a cell phone

This ain’t nothing but the truth! Don’t add in two kids who fight all the time. It’s sad to say but I have had a lot more distractions with my kids than anything else. My daughter screamed one time in the backseat and I almost crashed why did she scream. She got an A on a test….I was like little girl don’t you ever do that again. I thought something happened. After she did that I decided to invest in a car with 3 rows. They each have a row and the fighting in the car has gone down by 60%….just 60. My son is pretty chill in the car it’s the girl that has drama.

Hispanic infants & toddlers are 10x more likely to be unrestrained

Nissan is great when it comes to diversity and they especially want to get the word out to everyone. They want to make sure all cultures know the law. White, Black, Hispanic, etc. We all need to know the law when it comes to our kids. Sometimes the law can be confusing even to me because I myself have had questions and they changed the law in between both of my kids so I had to keep abreast. Know the law and buckle up…adults too!

Some of the other moms got to drive the Nissan I was to full to drive it was nap time after that food so I opted to ride around beside it’s not often that I’m the passenger these days. Nissan has so many safety features that are new and my favorite is the alert that Nissan has that let you know if a child (or anything else) is left in the car. It’s sad that we need this but with all these kids being left in hot cars it’s a must. Look I have to be on the fence sometimes as busy parents who follow a routine if you get off of your routine it’s easy to forget a child is left. While I have never left a child in a hot car I have left my daughter at home one time. I forgot she was home sick with me that day and I left to go get the kids. My friend called me to see how my daughter was doing and I was like oh SHAT…I left her at home. I turned immediately around to go get her thankfully she was still sleeping. We are not perfect people and we make mistakes. I am glad Nissan recognizes this and has a feature that I think all cars need to have.

My favorite Nissan is the still the Pathfinder. Sorry, Armada you are to big for me but I like that Rogue it’s perfect for a new teenager or for me when I get rid of these kids in the next few years.

Now I did say I was going to let you know about the food. I have had quite a bit of Mexican food around Atlanta and while it wasn’t the best it was good. The atmosphere was excellent though I may go back to check out more of their food to give it another try.

Do you drive a Nissan? How do you like your Nissan? Do you think the safety feature should come in all cars as a standard feature?

This looks and sounds like a great vehicle. I’m all about safe vehicles, so I’ll look into one.

And yes, my kids stay in the backseat! My son finally got to move to the front at 14. My daughter is 11 and is still in the back.

Safety should always be a priority. Gas mileage is very important. Next comfort and storage

My favorite safety feature out of the great ones you mentioned is definitely the alert that lets you know if a child is left in the car. I can’t wrap my head around anyone forgetting their child is in the backseat, but I guess when someone is overly tired, distracted, whatever, it does happen.

Nissan is probably one of my favorite brands. I really like the cars that they have. I love that they put safety first it all cars. I love the idea of an alert going off if you leave a child in the car. So many children have died unnecessarily because of being left in the car.

It is so smart to have cars with all the latest safety features. I think kids in the back seat is a good idea and with seatbelts all the time.

It’s nice to keep up with automobile safety. I totally hear you about kids being a major distraction. When my kids were little they got carsick a lot, and it was awful.. now they just argue! So I definitely need to focus on being safe and not being distracted.

I love our Nissan! And I did not know about the age 13, I thought it was about 12. My son wants to ride in the front, but looks like he’ll be in the back for a while.

Nissan has always been a great car brand! I love the big Armada, it could easily haul all of my kids and their gear. I have a 10 year old daughter that is counting down the years until she can sit in the front seat, she has a while to go and is small for her size so she will most likely be well over 13 when I finally let her sit up front. It is worth it to keep her safe.

I had a Nissan and it was a great car! The only reason I switched was that there wasn’t a dealership close to where I lived at the time.

My family has a Nissan Murano and it’s great! I didn’t know that about kids under 13 but my sons are only 4 and 1 so I have lots of time to think about that.

I totally agree that kids are more of a distraction than the cell phone! Having two little ones together, its always something going on. I would’ve loved going to this since I am a new Nissan driver as of earlier this year, it is an amazing brand! Both my husband and I have Nissan’s and we converted my sister as well!

Good information here. I had no idea that in GA children under the age of 12 had to sit in the backseat. Good law to have. Although I don’t have any children, when I have my nieces and nephews over they are a HUGE distraction in the car. OMG So whenever possible, I try not to have more than 2 in the car with me, unless I can have another adult too. That’s just too much.

I drive an Infiniti, the luxury brand of Nissan. I attended this event and it reminded me that although our son wants to get out of his booster seat, he doesn’t weight enough. These new safety features on the Nissan look like they’ll save lives!
