Money talks, bullshat walks

I’m tired. Y’all, tired. We have been protesting for years and it’s getting us nowhere. It’s like a hamster wheel we keep going in circles. I’m not one for the protesting or the political stance because I believe it’s all about the money. Money talks…period. We as African Americans don’t own anything. We talking a lot but ain’t moving because we don’t have the money power to make the power moves. A friend of mine said the other day when a black kid gets in trouble or can’t pay a bill we gotta title pawn our shat, refinance, borrow money. When a white person gets in trouble their parents are there to bail them out most don’t have to borrow and if they do they have the credit to do so. We have to build wealth in the black community in order to make some moves. We need to be able to hire lawyers when something hits the fan. We need to be able to travel at the drop of hat when things go down. We need to have at least 10k in savings. Money needs to move in the black community and I want to find ways for us to do that.

Money needs to move in the black community

Let’s start by owning businesses. Not all of us need to own one but we just need to have more options to buy from. I love that so many of us own t-shirt companies but we need more than just t-shirts to survive. We need grocery stores, we need luggage to travel with, we need technology, we need jewelry, we need a black-owned old navy company that sells everything. If you know of any of these companies please list them in the comment section below. I found a few companies that are in these industries but we need more.

Tech

Lonnie Johnson – Johnson Batteries Technology

Health

4D healthware

Jewelry

Lorraine West Jewelry

Afrohemien

Other black-owned Jewelry companies

Luggage

Tote and Carry

We have doctors but can use more in other fields besides pediatrics and family medicine. How about some black eye doctors, some more black surgeons, I would love to see a black clinic that isn’t run by nurse practitioners, how about a black cancer doctor. When my mom had cancer I saw no black doctors that could treat her form of cancer.

We have a lot of black beauty brands so that along with shirts isn’t something more of that we need. I would like to see more black-owned grocery stores. I love Publix but we don’t own that. More schools…Lebron can’t do it all and while I love the Ron Clark Academy that is run by someone who isn’t African American.

This is not to bash white people at all this is to make sure that we have options within our own community that we can visit. Will I stop shopping at Target? No, but if I have another option like them then I can move my money where I see fit. Being wealthy doesn’t stop us from being targeted but it helps us to start building something so that we can have a fight against those who are. For example, if someone you loved was killed by a police officer you can hire the best lawyer (not the same black lawyer that handles all the cases he is getting nothing done), take off from work without worrying about money, and be able to have a voice to buy things that you may need from your own people without doing a go fund me campaign.

There are no black banks, very few beauty supply stores, very few black-owned schools to teach our kids, etc. We have work to do in order to get beyond the protesting. Here is what I do as an individual and I have been doing this for years I didn’t just start. I buy from no less than 3 black businesses a month, I frequent any black stores I come across and share their stuff. I promote black influencers on my page and in my posts.

So let’s start circulating this money everywhere and own some thangs. What black company have you bought from lately?
