It’s fundraiser time! My kid’s school doesn’t do fundraisers anymore we decided to just get a nice donation from families by asking them nicely to donate to the school. Basically, we threaten them if you don’t donate we will send fundraisers home for you to have to sell and then you will have to explain to your child why they can’t win the prizes because you can’t sell the bullcrap in the booklets. I just broke it all the way down because I keep it real lol. So the other day I was at the mailbox getting my mail and a young man comes up to me with a booklet in his hands…I saw it and couldn’t run in time to my car.
Fundraiser time
Young man: Hi ma’am my school is trying to raise money and we are selling candles. I know you would love to keep your house smelling good can I show you some of the candles we are selling just in time for the holidays.
Me: Wow….good sales pitch. No
Young man: They aren’t that expensive and they would bring the Christmas smells that I know you love right into your home
Me: How do you know I even celebrate Christmas I could be a Scrooge
Young mane: Well we have a candle for scrooges too
Me: Oh you are really good. No thanks! *I hop into my car and drive off*
I hear my doorbell ring and I ask who it is the person says their name.
Me: Can I help you (through the door)
At the same time I’m pulling up my camera to see who it is and it’s the same guy from the mailbox. I opened my door…
Young man: Hi I’m selling….
Me: Didn’t I just see you at the mailbox
Young man: oh sorry ma’am
Me: So you are going door to door now. You are persistent
Young man: Yes ma’am I’m sorry for bothering you again. Are you sure you don’t want any?
Me: *smiles and closes my door*
Where are the donuts, the candy bars, the otis spunkenmyer cookies? That’s what I want not any candles. I can’t eat those. Do you participate in fundraisers?

What new plugins have you added lately?
My crockpot has been on heavy rotation these days. I’m cooking this next.
I already brought out my Christmas decorations. Sorry…not sorry.
Pineapples aren’t just for carving huh
Have you thought about giving the gift of travel this Christmas?
Are you going to see the Nutcracker? I have never seen it ….ever.
I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to certain things and I need all the help I can get

November 7, 2018 at 12:55 pmOMG I can’t believe they go door to door where you live. That is UNHEARD of here. And I don’t participate in school fundraisers either. My kids schools do them, but we don’t participate.

November 7, 2018 at 1:10 pmThat slow cooker chicken curry recipe looks delicious. Might have to give it try also. Thanks for linking it up. My Christmas decor is out already too. We start decorating on November 1st every year. And I’m hoping that we’ll be able to catch one of the morning viewings for the Nutcracker next week. The theaters will be empty since everyone else will either be at work or school.

November 7, 2018 at 1:21 pmOh geez, we get the door to door students selling crap too. I mostly say no thank you, but I have bought some chocolate and cookies before. The thing is, they aren’t supposed to be going door to door, but they do anyway.

November 7, 2018 at 2:24 pmYes! I just received flyers to buy magazines for my niece’s and nephew’s schools. I don’t want magazines but I would be happy to send a few dollars instead. However, that isn’t an option. It should be! Right?

November 7, 2018 at 3:30 pmYou’ve NEVER seen the Nutcracker? It’s been a family tradition every Christmas since I was a kid that we go to the ballet to see The Nutcracker. One that I have continued with our children. I am looking forward to the movie adaptation and plan to see it during the holidays.

November 7, 2018 at 7:27 pmOur kids’ school does an annual fund. It is sort of the same where donors just give without the kids having to sell anything. I like it better.

November 8, 2018 at 12:29 amThis cracked me up because like you gimme the candy not candles. My daughter is in 2nd grade,no fundraising yet. I do not know what I am going to do if sje wants to participate as I am not a fan of selling to folks.

November 8, 2018 at 4:51 amAt least he was polite about it and did not push you once you said no. My kids school does fundraisers but nothing like this, most of the time they focus on carnivals or events families can attend and pay a small fee for. No need to go door to door.

November 8, 2018 at 5:57 amThat is definitely some persistence!! Wow! We don’t do school fundraisers either, but that little boy sounds like he’ll do well in whatever he sets his mind to! 🙂

November 8, 2018 at 6:52 amI kind of hate school fundraisers. Our school doesn’t do them just asks for a donation at the beginning of the year.

November 8, 2018 at 9:49 pmI hate school fundraisers with a passion. The book fair is the only one I happily support. All the others, I’m good.

November 9, 2018 at 12:11 amThose actually look pretty good! My kids are girl scouts, so we are no stranger to fundraising. It is definitely a lot of work! I like stuff that is useful, like car wash coupons or wrapping paper.

November 9, 2018 at 2:02 amI am CRYING at “We have a candy for scrooges too.” To be honest, I HATE these PTA/school fundraisers. Just let me donate and I’m good.

November 9, 2018 at 2:04 amThat young man was way to persistent. Any I can’t stand anyone knocking at my door for anything unless it’s the Amazon or UPS with a package…lol . Anyway I will pick up my own candles. I’m like you, where’s the candy?!

November 10, 2018 at 1:14 amYou are funny at least you kept it real. I dont like fundraisers because I feel these kids raise all this money and it doesnt benefit them (lowkey scam). Yeah they selling candles door to door now?

November 12, 2018 at 6:47 pmLOL I hated even having to do fundraisers as a kid! Recently my niece and nephew’s daycare hit us with that same mandatory donation or participate in a fundraiser!
