Decorating Your Deck For The Holidays

This is a sponsored post all opinions are my own

If you live in the warmer parts of the United States and are able to enjoy the outdoors year round, then this is the perfect time to not only decorate your home for the holidays but extend it to your deck as well! Decorating can truly be as simple and easy or complicated and full as you want. It just depends on what you are envisioning for your deck to look like but keep in mind that your guests will want to spend time in the space so you want to have space for them as well.

Decorating Your Deck For The Holidays

Various Seating – If you are enjoying your deck this holiday season, make sure your neighbors, friends and guests can enjoy a few small seating areas that you have set up. This includes a large long table for everyone to sit together or various places for seats such as a loveseat in one corner, a swing in another or a few small table and chairs in another by the fire for kids to roast marshmallows over. Having these options can also give your guests a chance to mingle with another and enjoy getting to know everyone at the party. Have them spread out in all corners of your deck so guests can enjoy every aspect of the deck space you have.

Lighting – This is key when showing off your deck for your neighbors. Have uplighting up with strings over the top if you can or around the banister. If you have a smaller deck, use various size lanterns to bring in the cozyness of your space. You can even line a walkway area if you have other seating in the backyard for them to enjoy. Lighting can also be in the form of small candles on your table or as a centerpiece too. Make sure that your lighting is with low wattac so you’re not blinding everyone but creating a low key, relaxed atmosphere for them to enjoy entering into.

Updating Your Deck– While this may not be considered decorating it can make a huge difference when wanting to bring your party from inside to outside. If you looking to spruce up the space even more, updating the wood is critical. Brazilian Wood Depot is an Atlanta based company that offers incredible options of wood at an affordable price. Some options include the ever popular ipe decking. Why is this wood so popular you ask? Unlike composite decking, aka a combination of wood pulp and plastic, this wood is 100% natural. It’s ideal for repurposing, biodegradable and does not crate and by products that can be harmful to you or the environment. For many of us in the southwestern states, fires are a huge factor that drives construction material decision making. This holds true for large projects in urban areas and why many of them use ipe because it is the most flame resistant decking material. You can be sure this deck will be one that is talked about at your next holiday gathering for its color, durability and longevity it’ll hold for everyone over the years.

Greenery – This makes your space extremely cozy and ready for the holidays. You can use green wreaths to add to small cozy areas, long ropes of pine across the tables or in between the rails as well. Adding greenery not only gives a very holiday and festive look to your deck but also a wonderful aroma of pine that we can all enjoy. You are welcome to grab the real pine ropes or if you want a more budget friendly option, the dollar store has several great choices to choose from and you don’t have to worry about pine needles littering everywhere.

Pops Of Color – Another great way to bring in some festivity to your deck is adding pops of color. This can be pops of hot pink, yellow, green or all the above. You can use colorful pillows, blankts or signs to add some creativity as well. Another great tip if you live in warmer weather is bringing out colorful flowers or big potted plants around your seating area. These can bring a great dramatic effect that your guests can really enjoy.

I’m sure there are many other great tips for decorating your deck for the holiday season. After all, deck-orating is half the fun for your guests to enjoy am I right?
