Bonus bedroom turned teen movie room

I have a bigger extra bedroom that I never knew what to do with. I first had it as an office, then my son asked if he could play his video games in that room since it was bigger. Then slowly it became an extra den area for the kids because when my kid’s friends came over they would go in there. My kids’ bedrooms are small and I gave them the smaller bedrooms because I wanted to be fair to both. I don’t like giving one kid a big bedroom and then the other a small one so they both got the same sized bedroom which left that bonus room open. Slowly my kids would spend all their time in there and we started watching family movies in there instead of downstairs so I decided to just change it into a movie room. See how I turned our bonus bedroom into a teen movie room with the help of B.E. Decors.

I asked the kids what they wanted in the room they said a space to hang out that reminded them of the movies. I also needed storage space because things were all over the place. I will not show you a before because it looks horrible but we will go through the after of how we picked the final style.

The couch I got from West Elm (this is a similar one I can’t find the exact one I bought) I didn’t pay nearly as much for it as it was on sale. I think the cost was around 400 maybe 500 with delivery I bought it before the pandemic.

The bean bags in the corner I got from Target as extra seating. My decorator put the rug, the window seat, and the middle ottoman in there. I have no idea where she got them from but you can find them and fit them to your own style from target, amazon, or wherever you like to shop. Curtains came from Ikea.

We wanted to go dark since the rest of my house looks more beachy and has that beach vibe. I was going to make this room double as a guest bedroom but I don’t have guests over like that and if I do they can sleep on the couch (which is hella comfortable) or they can pull out the queen-sized air mattress that I have and blow that up.

This room is meant to be a fun spot for my teens and their friends but also a place where my kids and I can hang out and watch movies. My den area is downstairs for the adults. Now everyone has their own space.

yes, that’s a house phone lol. Overall we love the room! The fireplace makes it cozy plus it has extra storage. The tv is on the wall which makes it easier to view and we can close the curtains at night to give it that extra darkness that we need.

The room didn’t cost me a lot it’s called balling on a budget so I think I may have spent a total of 1500 for everything minus the couch and tv since I already had that. I believe in having nice things but you can find things on Amazon and discounted spots all the time. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on making a room your own.

The room really turned out nice. Did the total cost include the interior decorator’s fees?
