Best Train Trips in America

If you’ve never been on a train ride, or you have, do you know about the best train trips in America? Well, of course, some of the stipulations on what makes each trip the best will depend on your preferences. However, here are some of the best train trips in America and why I feel they’re the best and think you’ll love them!

Best Train Trips in America

Los Angeles to Seattle

If you’re ever in California in the Los Angeles area, you’ll want to hit up the Coast Starlight train. Why? Well, the best part about train rides are the views and the time to really enjoy them. The West Coast has some of the most beautiful views around. This train ride specifically, takes you right along the coast so you have gorgeous views the entire way. Definitely a relaxing and perfect ride.

San Diego Throughout California

Amtrak has some of the best train ride prices in the US. However, they have one of the best rides through California as well. Hit up the train that starts in San Diego and head to places like Santa Barbara or Ventura for some of the best views and experiences you’ve ever had on a train. Great sightseeing all along the way with some of the best stops you can imagine.

Colorado Rail

This train trip is about seeing all the best spots of Colorado. It reaches heights of up to 14,000 feet and allows you to see places like Garden of the Gods and Royal Gorge Bridge. An experience that gives trains an entirely new facelift.

Maple Leaf Train

Amtrak makes the list again with its Maple Leaf Train, which starts at Niagara Falls. You’ll weave and bob through some gorgeous scenery of the North and land in New York City. Some of the best experiences you’ll ever have, with the best of what both the city and nature has to offer.

Grand Canyon Railway

Have you ever seen the Grand Canyon of Arizona? There’s a reason it’s one of the top places visited for vacation and sightseeing. It’s absolutely gorgeous and awe inspiring. What’s so special about this specific train ride is that you not only get to view the best parts of the Grand Canyon, but you get to learn the history while you’re at it. The train comes with a guide that tells you all about the history of the Grand Canyon with much more thrown in that is hard to put into words.

Cascades Train Ride

If you’re looking for a quick or short train ride, this one that takes you through the mountains of Cass, West Virginia is the best the US has to offer. It’s only a total of 8 miles long, from start to finish. However, you get to view the amazing mountainous views from old trains that used to haul supplies through the area, way back in the day. Instead of being working trains, they are now used as scenic trains. An amazing history with views to boot.

These are only a few of the best train trips in America. If you haven’t tried your hand at using the train for more than just cheap travel, you’re missing out. There are countless amazing experiences out there involving trains. Give it a try!
