Uncloned in 2021

I am getting back to my reading this year and to help me stay on track look for me to go in-depth with at least one book that I read per month. I like to know about books before I buy them so I want to give insight into a few of them before you make a purchase. To start January off I read Uncloned Marketing by Audria Richmond. I used to follow her a while back and she was good back then but I got off the train of marketing and just wanted to be a reg blogger so I stopped following her. Fast forward to now, someone recommended her book and I decided to see what it was all about. I’m glad I did. After doing hardly anything in 2020 it’s time to become uncloned this year in a huge way.

Become uncloned this year

As usual, I will highlight a few snippets that gave me an aha moment via her book then tell you if I think you should get the book or not.

When it comes to your marketing campaign your hook has to give people something to remember. Marketing is a game in which the loudest, outlandish, craziest, funniest emotional ideas win.

In other words, you want to be remembered. In order to be remembered, you have to be different. You can’t be the same cookie-cutter person that everyone else is. You know I tried to be that influencer that was like everyone else and then I realize that I didn’t stand out so I have to be who I am. Also know that crazy ideas win. I started Kita in the dark on stories once a week on Wed. Do you know people laughed at me when I first started. Now they miss me when I don’t post on a Wed or when I say I want to change my Kita in the dark to a new platform. Do something crazy this year and stand out you will win by doing that.

Let your comfort zone give you clues about your organic rhythm and how you like to move.

I want to do video. I think I can but that is out of my comfort zone. Do you know what it is my comfort zone? Writing on my blog. I am comfortable in that zone and I will stay here. The folks under 35 don’t have to read my blog but those that are over 35 will. I want to be new and hip but it takes me out of my comfort zone. Video is nice and maybe one day I’ll do it but for now, my blog is where I’m the most comfortable.

To win you have to innovate. You have to create. You have to introduce people to something fresh and exciting.

We did a lot of this in 2020 because people who didn’t pivot…whew they lost big time. What’s fresh and new for you that you can introduce this year? Something fresh and new that I’m doing is my project 52. I’m a photographer but want to do something fresh and exciting. I’m also creating something that people can join in on and have fun with.

When you come up with an idea, don’t’ settle for basic.

I realize that when I take photos for my feed on Instagram I’m doing basic photos to introduce you all to the new post of the day. What if I went further and really dived into some creativity and come up with a fab shoot that really spoke to you as the viewer of the picture. A picture that would make you stop and stare and read. Basic won’t cut it in 2021.

Make it easy for people to trust you. Offer them proof up front so they don’t have to work for it.

My audience will buy a piece of lint if I told them that lint will change their lives. Why? They trust my word. Anything that I promote on this blog is something I’ve bought or used myself. I don’t’ want my audience buying anything and wasting money on things that aren’t beneficial for them. This goes for brands who may want to work with me. If I want to work with Hyatt I gotta show proof that I can market their hotels before they even hire me.

Complicated websites and sales funnels are a turnoff. You can have a better offer but if your competitors make it easy to do business with them, people will go over there for simplicity and less stress.

I am a photographer. I don’t need you to book a consultation with me, then book a date, then pay a deposit. I am simple just throw out 3 dates and times that work for you I will coordinate with my schedule and we book. No deposit, no consultation, and less work for you. I am simple and less stress which is why so many people like working with me. And look I’m not the best I know that but because I’m simpler I get more clients.

These are just a few highlights from the book. The book was a quick read. I read it in 2 days which means you can read it in a few hours. I liked that it was practical with examples to match. I like books that give me the details and then back it up with real-life examples. If you want to take your business up a notch with different ways to market then this is the book for you. It said some different things in it that most books repeat and for a change, it said some things in the book that I haven’t read somewhere on the internet as of yet. The marketing strategies were easy to follow and simple for me so that made me love it even more.

What’s your favorite marketing book?

Giving people something to remember is a HUGE aspect of marketing. You can’t blend in blandly with everyone else and expect to stand out.

I love to read. I have been trying to read more myself and actually our library is doing a winter reading program for both kids and adults. This is going to help me to get reading more too.

I’d love to read this book! How to become uncloned this year is to be unique and different from the rest! I absolutely agree… One can be so forgettable if everyone else in the pond is the same.
