Use your smartphone for more than just talking

This post was sponsored by Sanford and Sons. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience

I am team android….and proud of it!  I normally use my phone to check emails, (I never respond because I like to be at a computer so I will read and then go back and mark it unread) Talk to people, text, and go on social media. While mostly everyone does the above I want to show you ways smartphones can be used for more than just talking.

Smartphones can be used for more than just talking

Use your phone to take pictures of whats in your fridge

This helps you when you go to the grocery store. I know we all have a list but sometimes seeing things visually helps out more.

If your child has a cell phone and you all are at a park change the screen background to your contact info

I left my son at home the other day and I have a house phone so I took my daughter with me to dance and left her with my sons phone. She is not good with numbers quite yet (she knows mine and her brothers) but in case of an emergency I want her to be sure so I left her at dance for a few hours with his cell phone and screenshotted the contact info for her to be able to see quickly if she needed to contact me.

Put your phone in a loud cup to make sure you hear that alarm

Do you have trouble waking up in the mornings? My cell is loud but sometimes you can be in a deep sleep (if you are tired) and don’t hear that alarm. Put your phone in a coffee cup and you will wake up…I guarantee it!

Making money

There are lots of ways to make money with your smartphone. You can go online to find ways to sell things. I still have my mom’s old car and I have been dreading getting rid of it but I know that I need to part ways because it’s taking up space. I can open my phone and find someplace to sell the car and earn some money in the process. Here in Atlanta, the best place to do that is Sanford and Sons Junk Cars (yes like the tv show lol) I need a spot that is quick and easy to use so that I don’t have to spend a lot of time crying over getting rid of the car. The process can be done in 3 quick easy steps. Get a quote, accept the offer, and get cash.

Screenshot your travel directions

So since I am team android my phone doesn’t work in certain areas. Have you ever traveled and lost signal and then you get lost? Yep happened to me 3 times last year and I panicked. What I have started to do was screenshot my directions and put it into my gallery just in case I got lost I can find my way.

Switch your phone to airplane mode to charge faster

I didn’t think this would work but I was in need of my phone being charged faster a few days ago and I switched it and it worked!

Get the Smart lock App for Android (Locker app for iPhone) and take pictures of personal items

So I don’t know my credit card number by heart….can you believe a lot of people do. I don’t have time to memorize it so I instead take a picture of all my cards and lock it just in case I need it for an emergency or I lost my card and need to give something to the bank. I also take a picture of my driver’s license number, license plate number, and screenshot my wallet. Just in case I need those items for whatever may come up.

Tired of writing down recipes?

Instead of searching for paper and pen when you see a recipe in a magazine or on TV that you like, snap a picture!

Take pictures of items you want to share with your friends

Most of my friends live out of town so they help me pick out outfits, shoes, furniture, etc. I am always in the store snapping pictures of outfits or stuff then sending it to my friends. I love getting their opinions and I get to shop with them in a sense.

These are just a few ideas that I use my phone with other than the normal things. Our phones can be an asset to so many things, including working from home. How do you use your phone for various things?

Smartphones can be used for more talking… now to get them to do the laundry!

Awesome tips! I didn’t know it could charge faster on Airplane Mode. I’m going to try that one. I have snapped photos of recipes before! It’s easier to do that for me. I tend to lose recipes if I print them out.

I rarely use my smartphone for talking. It’s become my little portable assistant. I don’t know how I got things done before this awesome device came into my life.

Great tips! The charging in airplane mode is clutch lol I use it so often I forget to turn it back on regular mode. I use mine as a timer when cooking, and working out, creating graphics in canva is easier on a smartphone IMO so I use it for that, and the voice recorder on the iphone works great for soooo many things.

I use my phone for talking less than the rest. I use the camera the most, read and answer emails, text, and read books! I don’t know what I would do if I ever lost it.

Great tips. I have known about the airplane mode for some time now. My phone discharges about as quickly as it charges. There is too much that these phones can do

So many interesting suggestions to using an Android phone. I do some of these but definitely not all. I especially like the idea of snapping recipies instead of writing, I so hate to write half the time.

OMG! The airplane mode tip to charge the phone faster. I’m definitely going to have to try that and take note. I was charging my phone on the plane ride to Miami and I didn’t even notice if it helped it charge quicker or not.

I use it to take pics of business cards. I have such a huge stack of them and they aren’t organized in any way, so I just get a pic, follow them on social and call it a day.
