3 Tips Before Applying Perfume

If you’re looking to get the most out of your perfume, you’ll want to make sure it lasts. Here are three tips you can do before applying your perfume to help stretch your favorite scents:

No.1: Hop in the shower

It’s important to start with a clean slate when you’re applying perfume, and the best way to do that is by showering first. Not only will this ensure that your perfume scent isn’t overpowered by any other smells, but it will also help to prevent any interference from other scents. So next time you reach for your bottle of perfume, make sure you’ve already taken a shower first.

No.2: Apply lotion

There’s a reason most popular perfumes sell complimenting lotion with the same scents. By applying the lotion before applying the fragrance, you can help to extend the life of your scent and make it more potent. The reason for this is simple – moisturizers do a great job of holding and carrying scents.

No.3: Use some vaseline

If you’re the type of person who likes to smell good without spending a fortune on perfume, then this hack is for you. All you need is some vaseline and your favorite fragrance. Vaseline acts as a carrier for your scent, and since it’s pretty much scentless, it doesn’t interfere with your fragrance. Simply apply a small amount of vaseline to your pulse points before spraying your perfume over it. The vaseline will help to extend the life of your perfume and keep you smelling great all day long.

3 Tips When Applying Perfume

You’ve finally found your perfect scent. You’ve tested it, you’ve loved it, and you’re ready to commit. But before you go spraying perfume all over yourself in a crazed fragrance frenzy (we’ve all been there), there are a few things you should know about how to apply perfume correctly.

No.1: Focus on your pulse points

Identify your pulse points where blood vessels are close to the surface of your skin–these are key spots for scent. Once you’ve found them, give each one a light spritz of perfume. The warmth of your body will help to diffuse the fragrance, and you’ll be left with a subtle but tantalizing scent that will last all day.

No.2: Mist your skin from a distance

If you’re like most people, you probably think that the best way to apply perfume is by spraying it directly onto your skin. After all, that’s where you want the scent to be, right? Wrong. The reality is that spraying perfume directly onto your skin is a surefire way to waste your product. The alcohol in the perfume will evaporate quickly, taking the fragrance with it. Instead, mist your skin from a distance of six inches or more. This will help the perfume to last longer and give you a more subtle scent.

No.3: Don’t skip your hair

Hair holds scent exceptionally well, so don’t be afraid to spray it generously. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the bursts of fragrance you’ll get throughout the day as you move your head. And who knows, you might just make someone’s day a little brighter with a whiff of your amazing scent.
