Ain’t no place like home + Wed Links

What does home mean to you? I went home for the holidays and normally when I cross over that border that says welcome to Charleston, SC I am excited. This time though it was different…I wasn’t happy to be home. I had a conversation with one of my friends about it trying to figure out what home means.

Ain’t no place like home

Friend: How was your trip to Charleston?

Me: It was ok….didn’t feel like home

Friend: What? I thought you loved going home

Me: I did but this time it felt different. So many things have changed. It looks like a mini Atlanta and I felt like a tourist in the city I grew up in

Friend: Wow. Well I know you were glad to get back to Atlanta then

Me: Actually no. Atlanta has never felt like home to me either. It just felt like a place I stayed at. The kids were happy when we got back kissing the floor talking about they were so happy to be home and I was just like….we back…yay (very sarcastically) I don’t know what home is anymore. Is it the people, is it the place I live, is it where the heart is?

Friend: I think home is where you feel like you are at peace. It does have to do with people but you can make a home anywhere it doesn’t have to be where you grew up it’s where you are now and space you are in. Maybe you aren’t in a good space anymore because you’ve lost so many people you probably feel like you’ve lost your sense of home

Me: Yeah I think that’s what it is. My Aunt Emma was my last piece of home then my other Aunt died 3 days later and the few pieces I had left of my family were gone. I am on a journey to figure out how to find my way home again.

Sadly even when my hubs was alive I still never felt like Atlanta was my home. I felt out of place here and now I feel out of place in the place I spent 20 years in. My journey this year is to find my place…..

Where is home for you?

I love this song!

I have been to Alabama but I’ve never really been to this tucked away spot.

Valentine’s Day is coming and this is a cute DIY item you can give your boo

My new photography website is up. Go check it out!

I didn’t watch the R. Kelly madness last week. At the end of the day as long as there are women who have low self-esteem there will always be men like him ready and willing to do what he does and will continue to do.

I’m starting to buy more stuff these days with the non gmo label. I’m starting with my flour.

When it comes to HW I have to be involved with my son who thinks school is a joke.

I put my tomato soup up on my instastories the other day. If you want to make that soup here is the recipe.
