Valentine’s Day Solo Trip Ideas

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and what better time for a solo trip! All the commercialization around this holiday can be overwhelming. We wind up internalizing society’s expectations and focusing on what we may or may not have in our lives.

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to reevaluate and set the tone for the remainder of the year. Solo travel is one way to get out of your own head, explore the world and maybe even learn something new about yourself.

Valentine’s Day Solo Trip Idea for Women Who Deserve to Get Away

The Benefits of Solo Travel

With all of the responsibilities and obligations that come with parenting, corporate life and just simply being a woman in today’s society, it’s important to step back every once in a while and regroup. Taking time for self-reflection is imperative if we’re to keep giving all we have. As the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup and by filling your cup and doing the things that bring you, and you alone, joy, you’re better prepared to be there for others when they need you.

Spending time alone offers us, as women, a chance to truly reflect and determine who we are as people. With so much noise out there telling us who we should be, what we should wear, what we should look like and even how we should move our bodies, getting to the heart of our true selves is imperative for mental health.  Consider taking some time this Valentine’s Day to set off on a solo trip.

Valentine’s Day Solo Trip Idea for the History Buff

Located just a short drive from Hilton, head, Bluffton South Carolina is the perfect place to spend a Valentine’s Day solo trip. For those interested in learning a little more about the past, the area boasts a rich, cultural history that dates back to the antebellum period.

Treat yourself to the luxurious Montage Palmetto Bluff resort. Located just 11 miles from downtown Bluffton, it is the ideal spot for self-care. You’ll have the pleasure of choosing from one of eight on-site restaurants, and taking full advantage of the spa facilities. Guests also have access to kayaks and can peruse the 20,000-acre property taking in the garden trails, watersports or just spending time relaxing and reading by the in-room fireplace.

While in Bluffton, consider a visit to the Coastal Discovery Museum. The stop is worth a visit if you’d like to learn more about the history of the area. Specifically, you’ll learn of enslaved West Africans brought by force to the Southern states. Once freed, these enslaved people began moving to the Bluffton area. Bluffton is a must-visit if you like history, culture and of course, seafood.

Valentines Day Solo Trip Cruise

One of the best things about solo travel is that there’s no need to please everyone, just yourself. Often, when we take vacations with friends or family, finding the right balance of activities that appeal to everyone can be a challenge. A Valentine’s Day solo trip on a cruise could be the ideal vacation for those looking for peace and quiet.

On a cruise, you’re able to do as much or as little as you’d like without the guilt. Dining can be casual or fancy, you can shop until you drop or just sit on the deck with a cocktail in hand. Port Canaveral, Florida offers sailings for Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean International, Disney, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Whether you choose a quick 3-day cruise weekend getaway or a longer 7-day, multi-port excursion, cruising is one of the easiest and least expensive solo trip options available.

Wellness Centered Valentine’s Day Trip Ideas

Jump-start your fitness and wellness this year at the Girls Day Fitness and Spa in Clearwater Beach, Florida. This 4-day retreat combines fitness, luxurious pampering, and relaxation through yoga and workouts. You can boost your wellness goals, get away from everything and unplug and reset with a health retreat.

This retreat on the beach includes countless spa treatments from hot stone massage to manicures and pedicures coupled with beach yoga and workouts and healthy meals and snacks.  Also included in the wellness retreat, are 4-nights beachfront accommodations and three meals and nutrition shakes. Additionally, guests can take advantage of yoga and pilates classes on the beach.

Valentine’s Day Solo Day Trip Idea for the Mom With No Time

While a week-long solo trip may sound like perfection, the fact remains, it’s not always the most feasible option. Many of us don’t have a support system in place to find child-care. Others of us are balancing family life with caregiving duties of our aging parents. It’s easy to say ‘find time’ but harder to actually implement.  Even more often, finances don’t allow for luxurious vacations away from it all.

Rest assured all is not lost. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. This adage was never more appropriate than when applied to a mother who knows she needs to have her needs met. Women are the most resourceful when called on to step up. So, use that resourcefulness to make your mental health a priority.

This Valentine’s Day, think outside the box to make a solo day trip happen. It may mean dropping the kids off at school and arranging for a relative to pick them up after school. Those free hours could give you just enough time to take a day trip you’ve had on your bucket list.  It could also mean calling out sick from work and going to a one-day conference or retreat.

The Gift of Valentine’s Day Solo Travel Benefits Everyone

A Valentine’s Day solo trip may be just the thing you need in February to take your mental health, wellness and to the next level. Solo travel is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.  You should not be considered selfish when taking time for yourself.

By taking the time to recognize when you need a break, you’re honoring yourself and ultimately teaching others the importance of self-care. We teach people how we want to be treated and when we intentionally focus on ourselves and respect our individual needs, we’re in turn, teaching others that we are deserving of respect. That in and of itself is the best gift we can give to ourselves and our families.

A solo trip with a little exploration and history would be super nice. I love being able to wander and check out the exhibits at museums.

I love these ideas. We aren’t doing much on Valentine’s Day. Honestly, I’ll mostly be solo since my husband has to work. I plan on going to Target 😉

This would be a different way to spend Valentine’s. I have rarely traveled without my other half but it seems so nice.

No solo trips for me this year. I will be filming videos and getting some work done. If anything does happen for this “holiday” I do hope it’s with my whole family too!

I love the cruise and spa idea. However, honestly, I’m kinda afraid to go on a cruise alone. I’d do a girls trip, but a solo trip is something I’d have to work up the courage for.

As a mom of two, this sounds wonderful. It is true that many times, a family vacation ends up a lot of work for the parents. A cruise or wellness center sounds like a piece of Heaven.

I really need to do this again sometime. The last time I went on solo travel was because I was assigned to work in a different place for two weeks. It was fun, but it made me miss my family terribly. I learned to cope on my one and rely on no one else but myself. An experience like that really made me realize that strength in me that I never knew I had.

This is a proof that valentines Day is not always for couple. Travelling is a perfect way to celebrate it if you do not have special someone.

I don’t like to go out like alone on the day… but it is more because either I am lazy and wanna enjoy some good movies or just wanna rest… I think its not the right day to travel alone for most of the people 🙂
