Did you know that collection agencies are still calling for student loans for my husband? Yes, my deceased husband. I already sent the documents they need but they still call. We won’t talk about that conversation but we will talk about the convo I had when I had to put my student loans in deferment for the 50 millionth time. I actually have mine in the income forbearance status. So it goes by whatever my income is. Here is the conversation I had about my student loans
Student Loans
Calling Navient and of course, I get someone who can barely speak English
Navient: *think accent as you read this* Hi thank you for calling Navient can I get your account number
Me: I don’t have it but I have my social
Navient: You no have account number
Me: No I don’t feel like going to dig for it
Navient: I need an account number to go further
Me: Ok I have my social can’t you look it up by that
Navient: Yes………but what is your account number I prefer to get it that way
Me: …………………………………Can I get someone who speaks english please because I am not understanding why you can’t look me up by social
Navient: Oh ok hold please………..*comes back* Okay ma’am do you have your account number
Me: WTF Okay look I will call back *hangs up*
I call my friend to vent to her she tells me calmly you know you can put your loans in forbearance online you didn’t even need to call them. I was thinking that calling them would make the process quicker.
Conclusion: Good news, I have put my loans back in deferment online for another year…….*goes to play the lottery*

June 20, 2018 at 1:01 pmI’ve lived all my life without a credit card too. You just reminded me that both my student loans are due today. I’m like your friend, I don’t deal with calling. I just go online and make payments. Sometimes before you even get to a person you go round and round with the automated system smh. Glad you were able to get everything taken care of.

June 20, 2018 at 4:27 pmLol yup that’s how it goes! I handle EVERYTHING online because of this. I don’t want to deal with it at all.

June 20, 2018 at 6:32 pmOh gosh, this would be tough. I’m sorry you have to deal with the phone calls. I hate when they ask for account numbers. Look it up by my name and address, thanks!

June 20, 2018 at 6:59 pmUgh. The only thing worse than student loans weighing on you is a call about them that you can’t understand and may or may not be shady. LOL I’m glad you got them back in deferment!

June 20, 2018 at 11:16 pmI hate talking to people on the phone especially if I’m trying to troubleshoot an issue and their English isn’t the best. But I always tell myself, I’d probably sound the same way if I learned another language. I’m glad you were able to figure it out online though.

June 21, 2018 at 4:54 pmJust reading that conversation grinds my gears. I really wish somebody would do something about those interesting rates. It’s crazy that student loan interest rates can reach 12 percent and higher.

June 21, 2018 at 5:29 pmI am so glad that I’m not the only one that has issues with them. I actually got them on the phone and they walked me through the process of how to get a forbearance… and the steps wouldn’t work! I tried to fix it, they couldn’t help me. They are slightly better than Sallie Mae though, who told me that I was irresponsible for getting pregnant prior to paying off my student loans. Student loans are the worst!

June 22, 2018 at 2:29 amI’m so glad my student loans are almost paid off because I’m ready to use that money for something else. Also, it sucks that they haven’t done whatever they need to do on their end in regards to your husband’s student loans.

June 22, 2018 at 3:36 amThey still call?? That’s ridiculous! My boyfriend is still paying off his student loans, I never had them so it wasn’t something I had to worry about – but they are a pain to deal with on the phone!

June 22, 2018 at 8:17 pmI can’t stand Navient. Every time I call someone answers that has a strong accent that I have to try and understand. Not to mention the amount they require to pay is ridiculous. I also notice student loan repayments are going up more and more every few months. Need to win the lotto too.

June 22, 2018 at 9:25 pmOMG the student loan struggle!!! I hate them! But what makes me mad is that she could’ve looked you up via your social but she preferred to look you up a different way! Yes, I am currently on a payment plan with mine as well!
