Social Distancing Vacation Ideas

If you’re in the market for some social distancing vacation ideas, I think I might have some ideas to help you out. Summer has definitely been a little different with the restrictions that are currently in place. However, that doesn’t mean vacation and fun have to be negated altogether. Here are a few Social Distancing Vacation ideas to get your gears turning on some summer fun for you and your family.

Social Distancing Vacation Ideas

State Parks

I haven’t been to a state park yet that isn’t gorgeous. There’s plenty of visual beauty and multiple families can be there to enjoy it without even running into each other. Many state parks even allow your pets to come along! Not to mention, state parks are usually free, which makes this a very affordable vacation idea.

Staycation

You know those super fancy hotels in your own town (or a town nearby) that you’ve never been to? Instead of a big and complicated vacation, hit up one of those hotels for the weekend. Treat yoself and hit up the spa, room service, movie service, gift shops, restaurants, etc. These places will have protocol already in place for social distancing so you don’t have to worry about it yourself.

Daytrip

Instead of visiting one place for an extended period, take a daytrip to closer places and do more than one! My favorite thing to do is hit up a town in my state I’ve never heard of before. I then like to see the little shops and places that make it special and unique.

Get a Remote Cabin

A cabin in the woods isn’t just a scary movie, it’s a great vacation from getting away from civilization in general. No internet or electronics and very few people to interact with, with plenty of nature to fill your senses. This isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely one of the best social distancing vacation ideas, in my opinion.

Fishing Trip

Nothing says solitude and relaxing like getting away on a fishing trip. There’s usually nobody around and you get to relax on the water, and enjoy nature. No virus in sight to worry about.

Go Road Tripping

Instead of staying in one spot, take your bestie or significant other and go on a long ride to a few different places. This will allow you to avoid a lot of people and only hit up the places you prefer. You can always check on your stops ahead of time to see if they’re covid-19 friendly. Plan a route ahead of time if need be!

Some Other Ideas

If you’ve read the suggestions above and still haven’t hit something your family would like to do, no worries. I’ve got another list below that provides some more ideas to get your inspiration flowing.

  • Glamping (camping, but with more amenities and luxury)
  • RV Camping
  • Skiing trip
  • Golfing Trip
  • Secluded Beaches
  • Secluded Hotels
  • Mountain Climbing
  • Hiking
  • Bed and Breakfast
  • Backpacking
  • Rent a Boat

There are many vacation ideas that are very easily woven into social distancing parameters. There are countless vacation destinations that have adjusted to make it easier for people to enjoy vacations without the worry of Covid-19. These are just a few social distancing vacation ideas to get the wheels turning – enjoy!

These are great tips! I miss traveling. We were hoping to take our kids to Disney next fall in 2021, so we’ll see what happens there.
