I am more than enough

I love to read and this year my goal is to read at least one book a month. I might stretch for 2 but I know I can do one. I just finished More than enough by Elaine Welteroth.

First of all, she is a Saggitarius so I vibe with her and second of all, I loved her story. As always when I do my book reviews I highlight phrases that mean a lot to me and has me saying aha so I wanted to share some of my aha moments with you all. It’s a great book and I will say it’s a must-have for your list this year. It’s a quick read so you can definitely add this in to read over a weekend. This book taught me that I am enough and you are more than enough. Let’s dive into more than enough by Elaine Welteroth.

More than enough by Elaine Welteroth

It is the very things that you underestimate about yourself that will help you create your own magic.

What do you underestimate about yourself? I know I am always saying I’m not the best photographer but I am creating my own magic and I am proud of how far I’ve come. Sometimes we think we aren’t good because we are seeing things with our own eyes when we need to see things from other perspectives. Stop underestimating what you can do and embrace it! (I’m talking to me also) Especially if you are getting paid for it. People aren’t going to pay for bullcrap so if you getting the money you know you got some clout.

Sometimes the things that hurt the most propel you the farthest.

I don’t hurt easily but when someone touches a nerve or gets under my skin I get a whole gust of wind behind me as I try to prove them and myself wrong. I remember when a college professor told me that I would never amount to anything because I was ugly. My looks would basically get me nowhere and I would never own a business. I now own 2 but that stung and it’s one of the reasons I wouldn’t show my face on my Instagram much. Words hurt to the core and some stay with you. I felt that if people saw my face they wouldn’t want to support me but that was wrong and I am learning to take those hurts and put them into the wind that propels me further than I can ever go.

The rush of finding out what you’re good at is priceless

What are you good at? I know I am good at writing to engage, I know I’m funny, I know I can take a great nap. How do I make money from those things? I dub myself the people’s blogger these days because I tell it like it is even if a brand never pays me a dime. My audience wants the truth and I am good at telling folks the real deal about a brand. When I finally let go of the pressure I put on myself to be a big-time blogger I settled into knowing that I am good at writing for the people. It’s priceless and a weight was lifted off of me.

Until your prayers are answered in a miraculous way, you reserve room for doubt

You ever prayed for something and God didn’t give you what you prayed for but gave you something else that lead to something better than what you originally prayed for. Faith is hard when things don’t go our way trust me I know. I prayed for years for God to give me a job as if one would fall from heaven. I prayed for years thinking why can’t I just have money to do such and such and it didn’t happen. Until one day in the midst of my prayers and tears I heard a voice said I gave you a mind…use it and the money will come. Everything God does places us in the path of what we want we just have to be open to maybe that thing not looking how we want it to look.

Being underestimated can be one of the greatest motivators

I know for a fact that folks underestimate me. I also know that I love love love the look on their face when I win in an area they aren’t winning in. They be like how Kita do that? How did Kita get that opportunity? Never ever ever underestimate the little people. I have been in this blog game for almost 10 years and people have hung me out to dry. I’m still here winning but on my terms

No matter how much value you bring, you will always be disposable

This happens in business and your personal life. I have seen the best marriages become disposable when someone or something takes the person you love in another direction. In business, you can be up today and down tomorrow. Bloggers that were great last year have died out and a new breed is coming in. Always know that someone can come and take your place and that doesn’t have to be bad it could mean that you are needed for something better.

The magazine industry was just a first stop…not a place you stay forever. Take it as far as you can, and when the time comes, jump. And by then, be ready to fly.

Like any business have an exit strategy. Sometimes your first stop isn’t the place you stay and you have to be okay with that. Be okay with if it happens it happens and if it doesn’t it doesn’t. It took me a min to get to this point in certain areas of my life but I am 90% of the way there not a 100 yet lol. Trust me though I will fly if I have to.

I hope you pick this book up and give it a read you will not be disappointed.

I’m also looking forward to reading more. I just started again this month, and trying to get a book done a week, or at least one done a month as well. I’ll have to check out this book too.

I’ll add this book to my reading list. I have two books on hold for me at the library right now. I I have a strict goal not to BUY any more books because I have no place to put them. My tax dollars already go to the public library, so I’m taking advantage of that!
