Hi, I have a confession to make…my name is Kita and I have only worn makeup 4 times in my entire life. I am not a makeup person. My mom wore makeup but she kept it natural and it never looked caked on. I saw folks who had so much on that they looked like a clown. I vowed to not wear makeup but I lied to myself because on my wedding day I had professional makeup on. I hated it so much that I ran to the bathroom right after the wedding and cleared my face right off. My mom just shook her head, the hubs asked what the hell (in the church), I just felt so uncomfortable. Since I don’t know anything about makeup I had to call in an expert. See my makeup tips for those who don’t wear makeup.
Makeup tips for those who don’t wear makeup
My daughter thinks she knows all about makeup so she helped out. One of the biggest tips is to make sure you ask an expert. You do not want to go to a store and ask them there because they will have you spending all of your coins on things that you don’t necessarily need. Find a good friend or someone else that you can trust to help you pick out items.
I am very bougie when it comes to anything I put on my face so I make sure I use decent products. All of my products were bought from Sephora in JCPenney.
Here are a few more tid bits
- I love Fenty products. They work well on my skin tone
- Beauty products are expensive. Make sure you have the budget for it and buy things one at a time. Everything I bought in the video I saved up for months to buy
- Find the time to play in makeup like how you did when you were a child (I didn’t but don’t do as I do, do as I say lol) Take this time while at home to play in all the makeup to find what works and what doesn’t
- Test your skin against products first. Imagine putting on foundation and then breaking out. Make sure you test before you try. I usually do a test run on my arms first before I put anything on my face
- Get this book!
- Use a good facewash and make sure you moisturize your face.
- Get drug store brands to play in if you want to go the cheaper route but make sure it doesn’t break you out
As a beginner make sure you have your
- Blush
- Foundation
- Blending sponge
- Eyeliner
- Lipliner
- Concealer
- Lipstick (pick a safe color to start with)
- Lip gloss
- Neutral eye shadow
- Mascara
- Highlighter
- Brow Filter
I think the above is all you need to start off with. This is the list that I got from my expert friend. So if you don’t know anything about makeup make sure you test it on your skin and have fun.
Any tips for me when it comes to makeup?

April 21, 2020 at 2:49 pmI dont’ wear much makeup either! But you’re right, asking a salesperson at the store might not be as helpful as some would think. They are usually just trying to make a sale.
