In the New Year, I want to cook more. Cooking requires time and I sometimes don’t have the time to cook the food that I want so I need something quick and easy to make. One of my favorite easy meals to cook is Chicken Burgers. It’s simple, easy, and a little healthier than the beef. Here is how I make my chicken burgers.

Chicken Burgers

I get ground chicken from Publix Supermarket (1 pack). My secret ingredient is Teriyaki sauce + a dash of honey mixed together, the amount depends on you. Start with a half cup of teriyaki and squeeze a tablespoon of honey in. Pour it over your chicken. I let mines sit for about 2 hours to make sure that marinade gets in it. Then add in your other ingredients

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (or ½ t regular salt)
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper

Combine everything then use an ice cream scoop and scoop the burgers on some waxed paper and even it out so all the burgers can be flattened. Sear the burgers in a nonstick skillet in 2 teaspoons olive oil, over high heat for a nice crust, then lower heat and gently cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until just cooked through. No need to overcook.

For my toppings……..a great way to save money on them is to go to your local deli and ask for a bag or container of lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and pickles. It’s cheaper than buying everything separately. I also use the deli stuff for my tacos or any other item where I need just the ingredients.

The final product….a beautiful chicken burger. Just like a hamburger but healthier and just as tasty.

What’s your favorite burger? What do you add to your burgers to make them unique to you? Some topping ideas are avocados, feta cheese or blue cheese (blue cheese is my favorite), bacon (unhealthy of course lol) and don’t forget the pickles.
