Whump Day Wed: Crossover

I am finally getting back to blogging in real time. I miss the old days of blogging so I thought I would bring it back with a new series that I will reveal on here. This will take the place of business articles that I normally do on Wed. Since I am separating my blog and my business I thought I would start a new series so that you can keep up with my life a little better. Of course the best way to keep up with me is to read my newsletter that comes out every Tuesday but this will be a follow up of that newsletter that comes out on Wed. This will be a list of what I am doing for the week (like a midweek check in), what I’m reading for the week (a book or blog post article I came across), what I’m listening to, and what I’m watching. I will call it my Do, Read, Watch, Listen segment. I may do all four or do two or three but you will get at least two of these a week. So let’s get started….

Listen

I love me some uplifting music. This week I have Travis Greene new CD on repeat and replay. I get down sometimes and music….it sometimes speaks to my soul. The one song that I love off the album is Be Still….it reminds me that sometimes being still is the answer to everything. I move to much and sometimes it’s okay to just Be stillĀ

Do

I am starting to branch off into other areas of photography. It’s scary to branch off but it’s time to venture into some new stuff. My niche is small business branding and I love doing that and will continue to do that for small businesses. Right now I am going into Senior portraits because well….I want to focus on parents who can’t pay thousands of dollars for nice photos. One parent I know paid over $2,000 for pictures….nope not over here. You can get some great photos with me without taking out a second mortgage. Peep me doing some photos below (please excuse my bra….I will be real…it was hot and I had no cares in the world) You could say I am crossing over…..(peep the title of the post)

Read

This article about the documentary What the Health. I am still skeptical about meat but I haven’t given it up. I have cut back on carbs and other things after watching this but to cut out meat altogether….not quite yet. Does a movie change your mind on things?

Watch

The Profit

I love this show! It’s my go to for business ideas on what to watch out for when owning a business. I love Marcus no nonsense approach to handling business and I like that he gives his word. In business we have to make sure that our word has substance. I worked with someone who was doing non profit help and she took my money and I didn’t hear from her in months. When you take someone’s money if you don’t hear from them…the thing to do is to reach out to them to find out whats going on to make sure emails weren’t mixed up or communication wasn’t there. Luckily I have emails and could prove that I reached out to her and was waiting for her response (y’all see why I love emails) My word is all that I have…I make sure that use it wisely. What’s your favorite business show?

I don’t watch much TV, so I don’t have a fave business show. I’ve been busy planning holiday parties and homegating football party events. Congrats on branching out with your photography business.

I prefer to hire photographers like you! I can’t spend thousands on photos. No thanks.

I haven’t seen The Profit yet, but I do enjoy watching TV.

Our graduation pictures were way expensive with our first born, and we weren’t impressed at all. Needless to say, we learned a lot and now I either take my own or hire someone local. There are so many shows I want to watch, but just have no time for. Good luck on your new venture.

I haven’t hear of any of those shows that you discuss but they sure do sound interesting. I love learning about people through what they like to do in their spare time.

That’s a great idea to get back into the older ways of blogging. It does seem to be saturated with more ads! I love check in’s on what people are doing because it show’s they’re living their life their way :).

I could use all the help I can get with my business, so I need to check out this show. I am not that business minded I wish I were. This show could really help me!

That’s a fun looking video shoot! Love the graffiti! I have been taking all of our own photos because it’s too expensive where we live. They want an arm and a leg for a 30 minute session.

The Profit is one of my faves. However, I really like Shark Tank.

It’s crazy how expensive some photographers can be, you really need to take our second mortgages for some of them. Loving this series, really lovely

I’ve never heard of the Profit but I’m going to check it out. I have a high schooler who’s still a couple years away from Senior pics, but I had no idea how expensive they’re gotten!

I don’t think they broadcast that show here, I will have to find out. And it’s great you’re branching out. And to a lovely niche too! I’m sure parents will be delighted.

If you only lived close, I would have recommended you to be the official photographer for my son’s school. We had to pay a lot of money for those graduation photos! With the show you mentioned, no, I have not seen that yet. I don’t get to watch much TV lately but I will try and make time to watch The Profit.

I love The Profit. It’s such an entertaining, educational show. I also love to watch pretty much anything on CNBC. They used to have a great business show, where they interviewed potential entrepreneurs!

I think it’s great that you’re willing to provide affordable photography. It’s something most people always want (nice pictures) but usually can’t afford. Good luck with everything!

Hmmm, that’s a great question, not sure that I watch many business shows. I do love shows like Shark Tank where entrepreneurs are given exposure, will have to check out The Profit.

Affordable photography can be hard to find! I’m still debating whether to do my daughter’s own senior portraits.

I always love the beautiful shots you share on Instagram, Kita. You are such a great photographer!

The documentary “What the Health” really grabbed my attention, especially since they specifically mentioned my hometown county! I’m not eating as much meat as I used to (namely pork), but I have not given up on it all. I love to eat. I’m going to have to find some other alternatives to help me along.

Oh yes, I will def be adding “The Profit” to my to-watch list as well.

And I look forward to checking out this segment on your blog each week. Let me go sign up for your newsletter so I can stay in the loop!
