The Real Beauty of the Mom 2.0 Conference

A few weeks ago I attended my very first conference the Mom 2.0 Summit in Orlando. It was beautiful. The place, the people and so much more. This year I wanted to do some new things and I did. New is my word of the year so me being a speaker at my very first conference was so new to me. I have spoken in front of a crowd before but not since my early college days so speaking at Mom 2.0 was nerve racking. But the real beauty of the Mom 2.0 conference are the things I took away.

The Real Beauty of the Mom 2.0 Conference

  • Networking, OMG the people that I met was just out of this world. I literally had to take a step back because it was so overwhelming to meet people. Not just new people but people whom I have known online and in the virtual world for years and finally got to meet them in person.
  • The brands that I love were there including Dove which we will get to in a moment. I also loved Best Buy, Kia, Olive Garden, Flipboard, etc. just to name a few
  • It was about moms but it wasn’t the focal point. I mean we were moms and we rock but it wasn’t pushed in your face. You know how at some parenting conferences everywhere you look they are talking about parenting and kids? Not here. They actually treated us as human beings first instead of what we are known for 24 hrs a day
  • Organization! this conference was so organized. Sending us emails about changes on a daily
  • The surprise swag that we got in our room. Jeesus, you had to be there.

The hotel was also great. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando and although the rooms weren’t cheap, the service was outstanding. Anything we asked for we got. You could have food brought up to your room, room service came within in minutes, and the view that we had with the pool was perfection.

What I Wore

Of course I’m a big girl so I had to make sure I was dressed up to par. I had to go fancy for this (I normally wear sweats) I didn’t want to stray to far from my normal wear so I thought I would mix my pieces up with a nice top some dress pants but comfortable shoes. I knew there would be a lot of walking and heels and I don’t mix at all.

Shirt

Pants

The details of the shirt was amazing and the fit was so comfortable. Since it was my first time speaking in front of a crowd in a while I wanted to be comfy and confident. When you look good you feel good! Thank you Lane Bryant.  I feel like one of the real beauty of the Mom 2.o conference moments was me.

Now let’s get to the real beauty of the Mom 2.0 conference. Aside from the fact that Dove, my favorite brand was the major sponsor. I was elated to know that Dove now carries a children line specifically for kids. My kids can’t bathe in certain types of soaps and products out there so finding something that doesn’t bother their skin…priceless.

The whole line is awesome but the real beauty of this conference is that you can be yourself. I didn’t feel out of place at all. I didn’t have to dress all the way up and I could be Kita. The real beauty of going to this conferences is that you don’t have to fit in with others. Dove doesn’t fit in when it comes to their products which is why they have been around for years. I love that this conference had me thinking about life beyond my blog, life beyond my own backyard. I want to travel and meet new people, explore the world, and go back to the core of what blogging should be.  A place where I can share what I do and inspire others to do what’s best for them. Thank you to Dove, Lane Bryant, and everyone who put this conference together. I learned how to be me even more and love the skin I’m in.

Here are a few more photos from the conference. If you haven’t been I suggest you put this on your calendar for next year, it’s expensive but y’all know I won’t tell you to spend your money on something not worth it. With all the real beauty of the Mom 2.o conference I can say it is very worth it!

It looks like the Mom 2.0 Conference was a lot of fun and also very educational. I have always wanted to attend a mom/blogger conference. Dove is such a great product! I love how they focus on women’s true beauty and diversity in their product campagins.

I’ve been to so many blogging conferences, but never to Mom 2.0. After checking out your pictures and reading about the lovely time you had, I’d like to attend one in the near future.

I’m not a mom yet and I want to go to this conference! I’ve been to quite a few in my time and it’s hard to stay organized. I’d love to see how they ran this one. Also, Orlando is awesome so I’m sure you enjoyed yourself.
