I love salads! During the summer it’s too hot to cook so I do a lot of salads….a lot. Today we are going to talk about one of my favorite salads Tuna Fish. Tuna Fish is a staple in Charleston, SC we ate it more than potato salad. I buy the Starkist Tuna in vegetable oil only not the one in water…..yes it’s more oily but the trick is to drain a little of the oil before you put it in the salad so let’s get cooking!
1 pound medium shell pasta ( I didn’t buy the shell ones so I used elbow)
3 cans of starkest tuna (get the one in oil)
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste
You can add in Relish if you want. I don’t because I don’t like it in my Tuna but a lot of people do. I say about 2 tablespoons should do. I also boil 2 eggs and add them to the dish. I know so many can’t eat eggs so you can totally leave it out if you want.
Cook pasta according about 8 minutes so it’s al dente.
While cooking, mix together tuna with mayonnaise, mustard, onions, and s&p in a very large bowl.
Drain and rinse pasta with cold water.
Add cooled pasta to tuna mixture.
Cover and refrigerate a few hours before serving.
On top I sprinkle Paprika and Parsley to give it that look! I also season with onion powder and Garlic powder but you don’t have too.
My kids loved it and I was surprised that they ate it. They so picky smh. It lasted all week and it was so good. Make sure you make yourself a dish to cool you off this summer. Do you like Tuna?
