Over the holidays we went to Biltmore Estates. We wanted to stay on site but waited until late and all of the rooms were booked. I wanted to find an Airbnb to stay in but could not find any that I liked. As I was searching for a hotel Asheville Cottages in Asheville, NC popped up in my search. I clicked on and was immediately intrigued by the look. I knew that this would be the perfect stay during the holidays. I got in touch with the owners and I knew from their demeanor that I had to stay here and so we ended up booking one of the cottages for our holiday stay. Now I will tell you that the spot was booking fast. We booked in October and there were only 2 cottages left. The one we stayed in and one more. I went on and booked it….a few weeks later all of them were gone. My advice….BOOK EARLY. So let’s talk about our stay
We arrived and went down a dirt road…now if you are like me you know dirt road means country life. When we got to the Asheville Cottages though it was much more than that. It was spectacular. None of the cottages were close to each other and it was quiet. So quiet you could hear a pin drop. The land was spacious and the amenities….OMG. We brought things with us like towels, pots, etc. but we literally didn’t need anything but us, clothes, and food. They had everything you would need
- Keurig (with coffee and sugar already there)
- Electric tea kettle (the good tea not the cheap one)
- Foil paper
- Ice
- Forks, Spoons, Plates, Mugs, wine glasses
- Towels
- Soap (this was attached to the wall in the shower…AMAZING)
- Toothpaste and toothbrush (just in case you forgot yours)
- Sleeper sofa (you know how some families bring an extra tagalong person)
- High speed internet….(Y’all know I was concerned about this but it worked perfectly)
- Cable TV (even hbo channels)
- Hot tub (we did not go in because of that cold….)
- Grill (just in case you want to fire up the grill)
- King Size beds….oh wait…sleep number king size beds to be exact
- Washer and Dryer
One of the owners greeted us as we arrived! See when you stay at a hotel you don’t get to be welcomed with such warmth. When you stay at Asheville Cottages….you get that and so much more. They even guarantee that if you don’t like it you get to stay the night for free no matter how many nights you booked. Trust me you won’t want to leave. Did I mention they had heated bathroom floors and a fireplace that produced so much warmth that even I the queen of having my heat on blast had to turn the heat down to 75 (temp there during the holidays was 29 degrees). It was so clean and neat there like you could practically eat off the floor. That’s how clean it was!
Let’s talk about a few more pointers
Neighbors…what neighbors. It felt like a nice small community and the neighbors weren’t close to you at all. (see our closest neighbors below) This works for my introverted ways!
They have one bedroom cottages if you want to get away with your boo for the week or weekend. (This would make a romantic couples getaway)
Or you could rent out an entire cottage for your family of up to 6 people. I think even 10 can fit comfortably especially with that sleeper sofa. Any more than 10 people will be too crowded.
We stayed in the IVY cottage.
When you go online everything is just as the pictures say it is. As a matter of fact, the pictures do this place no justice. The kids and I came for Biltmore but we wanted to stay because of the cottages. They played outside oh and did I mention that the cottages even had board games for you to play with your family. This encourages family time and we took advantage of that. Something I hadn’t done all year.
If you are ever in the Asheville, NC area stay at Asheville Cottages. Don’t even bother to stay anywhere else. Now they are a bit pricey but you pay exactly for what you get and that is the beauty of staying somewhere nice without the hassle of hotels. My advice is to bring a set of adults with you to split the cost and to maybe visit during the off season….which really if you are visiting Biltmore Estates there is no off season lol. The cons of staying here would probably be the prices because the place was perfect. Next week I will talk about our visit to Biltmore! If you have any questions ask away you know I will give you the real deal!

January 10, 2018 at 1:37 pmYou had me at heated bathroom floors! This looks like a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the peace and quiet. It’s always great when there’s a sleeper sofa available for that “tagalong” person.

January 10, 2018 at 9:43 pmI keep swearing to myself that I will go and spend a weekend at a cottage like this. I think it would be so great to do that, get away from everyone and everything, for a perfect way to recharge.

January 10, 2018 at 11:31 pmOh wow those cottages look absolutely beautiful – I have to admit I love renting something like this for a summer get away, they make for a real home away from home.

January 11, 2018 at 2:43 amNow, this is my kind of place. Tell me more about the heated bathroom floors. I’ve never experienced such magic in all my life. I need to experience it though because I’m the person that is always cold.

January 11, 2018 at 5:50 pmThese look like such a cute place to stay! We usually stay in large hotels but two summers ago we stayed in our own rental home for vacation and it was amazing! It is nice to have more privacy, typically a larger kitchen and even some outdoor space. It makes the vacation feel more comfortable.

January 11, 2018 at 7:59 pmThis is my kind of vacation/retreat. Staying in a cottage in the wood far from the mad crowd of city living. Fantastic! I wish there was something like this here where I live. I guess I have to find out. You guys sure looked like you had a great time.
