Not everything is as it seems. Experience A Wrinkle In Time

I had the honor of viewing A Wrinkle in Time before it came to theaters today. Before I get into my honest opinion of the movie I want to talk about how we see things. Not everything is as it seems. Experience A Wrinkle In Time

Not everything is as it seems. Experience A Wrinkle In Time

Everyone has a different eye

While one person might see the number 6 someone else might see the number 9. It’s all about perspective. It’s all about how you were taught as a child, your background, your environment all of it….all of it helps us to see things as an adult. Do you ever see a happy couple and then the next thing you know one of them is in jail for beating the other one. We see on the surface that they are happy but not everything is as it seems. We assume and then we are shocked because our minds didn’t look beyond the surface. Social media will have you thinking that bloggers make a lot of money but these bloggers don’t tell you is that some of them use products as cash, some of them have husbands or help in other ways to pay bills, some of them know someone who can get them with the right people. It’s all about perspective! My mother always taught me to be fair, to listen to more than one side of a story and only trust what you see.

“If you didn’t see it with your own eyes don’t trust it with someone else eyes. ”

I see things differently sometimes, which makes me different. Always question things and trust your gut. Never take things at face value just because it looks good. Everything that looks good ain’t good as my mama used to say.

Not everything is as it seems. Experience A Wrinkle In Time

So I went to A Wrinkle in Time on Tuesday evening. I didn’t know what to expect because I didn’t read the book. Most of the time the book you read has nothing to do with the movie itself. I heard that the movie wasn’t good for a lot of people but of course, me being me I don’t listen to people. Sometimes what’s good to me isn’t good to them and vice versa. So my kids and I went to see it before it hit theaters. The movie was interesting. I won’t say it was the best Disney Movie I have seen but it was a good movie with a few lessons. I think the movie itself could have used a little work as far as the character developments and the story being told but all in all, I think the movie has potential. You will have to take your mind back to that of a child and look at it from a child’s perspective. I think that is the only way you will enjoy the movie. If you don’t have an imagination then you won’t like it.

My favorite part of the movie…..

wasn’t actually a part but the visual aspects of it. I enjoyed that more. To see the flowers come alive, to see one of the characters change into something totally unexpected, to see the strength of a young girl who loved her father dearly. Those are the parts of the movie I truly loved. While some people say it’s not good for a child I thought it was good for my 8-year-old. My 11-year-old didn’t really love the movie but he did like the visuals. My daughter loved the storyline itself and said she wanted to learn more about time and the universe. Two different kids, two different perspectives.

The movie hits theaters today!

If you go and see it be openminded and see it with a different eye than how you normally see things. One of the main themes of the movie is to be a warrior and you saw some of that in the movie. What I loved the most is that the women were being celebrated more in the film as the warrior. We don’t get to see that often. Women rock and we can be and do anything we want. That was probably the greatest lesson that I got from the film. We as women can be a lot of things if we don’t let our faults stop us. Know your faults, be proud of who you are, and fight for what you want.

Will you be going to see the movie? Have you read the book?

I’ve seen a good number of people mentioning the book recently. I don’t recall the book at all, and have debted if maybe I should read that first before possibly seeing it.

I have not read the book and had not even thought about seeing the movie. Now, I want to see it so I can form an opinion for myself. I do like your point of view on everyone having a different eye and us all seeing things differently.

I read an interview where Ava Duvernay said this movie isn’t for adults but for children who still are tapped into their imagination and innocence. We’re going to see it this week so it’ll be interesting to see how each of my kids react to it.

I’m going to see it this weekend. It’s hard to ignore all the negative recruits I’ve read about it but I’m going to go see it with an open mind. I think if nothing else I’ll enjoy the visuals even if I don’t like the storyline. So we shall see.

I have had no interest in this movie. The trailer seems odd. I was considering going anyway with an open mind…

I have never heard of this book and not sure I will see the movie. I usually don’t pay attention to most “critic” opinions but I’m hearing mixed reviews from those who have seen it from friends.

I think a lot of times we overlook the greatness of the visual aspects of a movie. I can’t wait to see all the visual greatness now that you’ve mentioned it.

I read the book, but it’s been years. My daughter is totally excited about seeing this movie, she’s 12. I am sure it’s one that she will enjoy. By the way, you are totally right, it’s all about perspective.

I’ve read the book and I’ve been looking forward to seeing the movie since I heard it was being developed into a movie and then add Ava and Oprah and yep, I’m all in. I love that the cast is so diverse and I love seeing so many women onscreen and so many people of color.

There’s so much to love about the movie. I read the book years ago and I think it’s amazing and I was so excited to hear that they’re making a live action film based on the book. There’s plenty of things to learn from it.

If it’s from Disney, it must be a great movie with a lesson for the viewers. Being different from everyone else is certainly better. More so, looking at things differently and optimistically will make you appreciate life way way better!

Ava definitely said this film was for children 6-12, especially young girls. I love Storm Reid role and I didnt read the book but the visuals was fun and I got a child like spirit within myself when I saw the flower scene.

I probably won’t be going to see the movie. It’s just not something I’m into these days. But I do enjoy reading reviews on it. I am curious to know why people say it’s not a good one for children.

Girl yes! I trust no one! I believe nothing. My uncles would come around talking about mermaids and ghosts as a kid, and tell me they’ve seen it with their own eyes and I’d just be like “uhhuh, cool story bro”. LOL

I can’t wait to see this movie though! I loved the book as a kid.

This is one of those movies that I wouldn’t go to see unless I had someone like your daughter who could appreciate it and I could see it through their eyes. Just for me though I never read the book and as much as I love the cast, I’m just not interested. I’m not opposed to giving the book a try. After seeing the previews I feel like I’d need to have some background first.

Love how honest you are – always! I did go see the movie with my whole crew (Hubby included) and we all loved it! My oldest daughter and I made it about halfway through the book before we just couldn’t wait anymore. I read it once a long time ago so had some idea of what was ahead. I agree that without a true sense of your inner child and imagination this movie will be lost to you. Oh but if you simply allow yourself to dream – you will not regret a moment! *I still plan to finish the book and maybe see it again before it leaves theaters
