Fun Things to Do With Kids in Atlanta: Mother and Son Date

I have a son and a daughter and I try to spend time with each one together and separately. I love spending one on one time with each of them because it helps me to understand their personality and they get me to themselves so they can talk to me without vying for my attention. I try to do a kids date night at least twice a month for each of my kids and then one where we do things together as a family. My son is the typical boy so he likes to do boy things. Since I am a tomboy I kind of know some of the activities that would make a great mother and son date. Here are a few of my favorite fun things to do with kids in Atlanta.

Fun Things to Do With Kids in Atlanta

Main Event Atlanta – My son and I loved this place namely because it has everything a boy would love. Pool, laser tag, climbing, and bowling. Oh the most important part though….food. We went on a weekday where it’s less crowded so I would suggest you do that. The prices were great and we had a blast. I brought one of my friends along with her son so that we could check out the place together…you could say we did a double date with our boys lol

Brunch at Copelands – My son loves to eat and since his dad was a huge music head…I thought that Copelands might be a great spot around Atlanta to take him. The brunch on Sunday’s are very good and you can talk one on one with your son over a nice brunch. Get dressed up for this one…..its worth it to see a young man dressed so that he can know what to do with the ladies 😉

Skyzone – This right here is a true workout. My son and I are on the big side so we need to get in some fun exercises. Since he has severe allergies and it’s tough for him to go outside to exercise I thought that this would be a fun place to bring him. We get to do two things at once exercise and have fun!

Andretti– My son loves cars so a great date night would be at Andretti’s they can race and rock climb. My son swears he can drive but he can’t and I can’t teach him I have no patience lol.

College football Hall of Fame – We love this place! My son use to play football although he hated it he was good at it. He still loves to watch certain teams and he does like the atmosphere. This is a great pace to be for that child who loves sports!

Chattooga Adventure Center – So if your child is daring and love adventures…check out the Chattooga Adventure Center. It’s a great place to get your son away away from the video games and become one with nature.

Atlanta Helicopter Tour – This is would be a great thing to do with your son or daughter but I know my boy…he likes to go high and he is daring so this would be right up his alley.

Other fun things to do with kids

  • Camp outside in your backyard for the night just you and your son and do some smores
  • Go golfing at your local golf course
  • Take up a cooking class together somewhere in your neighborhood
  • Go for a walk in the park or take your bikes and go bike riding around town
  • Do a nice sit down restaurant where you can get dressed up
  • Amusement parks are always good if you have one in your area
  • Volunteer together and help out with habitat for humanity or feed the hungry
  • Take your son out for ice cream
  • Movies are always a winner…try the drive in that way you can watch the movie and talk to him
  • Take a road trip just you and him and go somewhere fun and unusual

There are so many things that you can do with your kids but I wanted to specifically talk about doing things with my son. Since his father has passed it’s extra important that I make sure he has some one on one time with me and I make it a point to bring some males in so that he can have one on one time with them also. If you have a son what would you do on the list? What would you do with your son in your city?

I love taking my sons out for dates! It’s so important to do things together and keep the bond strong – especially as they get older. My 19yo still looks forward to our mommy/son dates and that really makes my heart smile. 🙂

i’ll be doing this when my son is old enough for these kind of adventures. Sons sure are a blessing, you will enjoy every moment with them and way to go your effort for making him happy. Respect 🙂

I also try to take my kids out on dates, just me and them. I love our conversations and the things I learn about my kids when we make the time to do it. Your date night ideas are great! SkyZone is one of my favorite places to go with my kids, though it does wear me out!
