Make a decision about your health in less than 20 minutes

This is a sponsored post by UnitedHealthcare. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Everyone has a short attention span these days. Either that or they want things done easily. We now have grocery stores that deliver, lyfts to take you where you want to go, books on our cell phone. Everyone wants things done quickly. In my previous post, I mentioned that small business employees now have the easy option to sign up for healthcare and it only takes 20 min. It’s already hard as a business owner so I don’t want to complicate matters by making my employees jump through hoops to get the healthcare they need. My employees trust me to make sure I am not adding more work to them so I walked one of my employees through the process and we were done before she finished her coffee and she always finishes her coffee fast! I will walk through the steps that we did so you can see for yourself how easy this was.

Step 1.

Bring me coffee…..ok that might not be step one but let’s start with coffee, shall we.

Go to Unitedhealthcare Small Business Website and get started by entering basic information.

Start by simply entering your company’s zip code or city. Plans aren’t currently available in all states, so if your state isn’t covered then you can contact an adviser for more options. Next, just enter the number of employees in your company and the date that you’d like your coverage to begin.

Step 2.

Find the right Medical plans. This is crucial because you don’t want to sign up for the wrong things. You can choose to offer the plans to your employees or you can pick a few. I choose to offer the plans to my employees because they each have different needs. There are high-deductible (low premium, higher cost of care), mid-deductible (balance of premium and cost of care), and low-deductible (high premium, lower cost of care) options. You can group plan options based on network, metal tier, or deductible. I loved that I had the option to explore common employee profiles to better understand the lifestyles of each of my employees. This offered me insight into their insurance needs based on how young they are, how healthy they are, if they single, etc.

Step 3.

Let’s import employee details. Some of the details will include Employee initials, ZIP Code, Age, Gender, & option to add spouses and children. You don’t even have to input each employee if you don’t want too. I know some of you are very particular about details but if you already have your employees info in a spreadsheet such as Xero, Excel, or Quickbooks you can easily import the details. (BTW you should have this already for easy access this makes your job easier especially during tax time also)

Step 4.

You are almost done! Decide on your monthly budget that you want to set for your company. Set the amount you, as an employer, want to pay each month with the interactive slider too. The Employee Fit Finder tool is a questionnaire for employees about their family and lifestyle to help them narrow down their plan choices.  For me, if I have healthy employees my work will get out better and faster so I want to make sure they have access to everything they need and cost may hit me now but in the long run, my company can run better because I made sure my employees had everything they needed healthwise. The budget I set has no effect on plan availability and there is a cost breakdown provided which helps me keep my budget in tip-top shape. There is a range of average employee costs because the amount an employee pays is based on the plan that they choose. My costs are however fixed. I love that I can attract new employees and keep my old by adjusting my budget specifically for healthcare.

Step 5.

Review and confirm your plans! You are done just confirm your benefits package and billing information. An advisor is always there to help you set up anything special that you need or if you need to add or take away from your coverage. Employers who offer 6 or more plans can let employees use the Employee Fit Finder tool.

You are done! 5 easy steps that will have your employees thanking you. This is an easy process that will help you and your employees be covered for anything life throws at them. Stop putting healthcare off and start the process today by going to Unitedhealtcare.com ……

Hmmmmm my coffee is still hot!

This sounds easy enough! At the moment we have health care through the military, but when my husband gets out, we might have to look at other options.

Ok. I had no idea that all you need is 20 minutes. All I need to do is swap that coffee for my beloved tea and I can start signing up for a health plan.

When I was taking Benefits as an elective, it wasn’t as simple as how it’s described in this post to set up healthcare. This is a great setup to secure healthcare for employees.

Very informative article. I will consider this if I start out on a business venture. I mean, employees take care of your business, so it is just right that you take care of their health too.

Coffee starts all of my big life decisions! Medical coverage is important to us all, but my kiddos have put ours to good use. Need to check out the site. Just because it’s important doesn’t mean it has to take all day.
