Once upon a time in a far far away land…ok about 8 years ago…I was 120lbs I have always been a skinny stick. No booty, no tatas just a straight 120lb stick even after I had my son. Then my mom and other family members died and I had a baby and boom I became a 256 pound women that is 5’2. I have gotten out of control! I ask myself everyday how did I get here? I know it was a lot of depression and a lot of non movement but my gawd I am way to big. I am so big that I hate taking photos of myself and I hate being in front of the camera. I am doing better at it now but I am still not 100% comfortable …I’m not even 50% comfortable. Right now I weight 227lbs so I have lost some weight but not enough. For my height I am not supposed to be anymore than 130 at the most and so I need to loose 100lbs. My goal was to lose 50lbs by my birthday…which is December 16th but at the rate I’m going I will probably just lose about 20 but that’s okay….It’s time to lose weight my way and my way is the slow but not going back type of rate. I have tried all the diets….
Weight Watchers…I was confused as hell and I lost interest
Low carb diet….who knew grits was a part of that (threw the entire grits bag in the trash)
Whole 30……wait I didn’t know I couldn’t have dairy…but my eggs scrambled with cheese and my sangria…hold up
I counted calories for a while until I got lazy and didn’t feel like putting in the foods I ate and half of the time I couldn’t remember what I even ate. It’s bad…..so I am going to take my time and cut out things on my own.
Soda GONE ….I don’t buy soda for the house anymore unless I am having company over. I do drink soda occasionally if I go out but that’s it.
Water down juices…So I am buying more juice and I do half juice, half water I can’t give up my juices just yet but I’m trying
Water…I am up to almost a gallon a day. I drink water from the bottle cold and I always add a dash of lemon juice in them. It’s the only way I can drink water. I also drink bougie water…voss and fiji….Don’t judge me
Sweet tea – My weakness. Have y’all had Zaxbys sweet tea….it’s so good. I don’t drink Mickey D sweet tea often but that Zaxby and Chick Fil A one…yassss gawd
Cookies – Another weakness…I like the soft baked kind from Zaxby’s….(Zaxby’s is starting to sound like the debil) I love oreos (the double ones…I mean really why do they even make regular oreos) Cookies are my kryptonite
I don’t like cake, don’t eat a lot of chips, not a fan of to much candy so I don’t eat anything sweet but sweet tea and cookies
So I went to the Dr. and they said that I am extremely overweight and at risk for heart diseases and diabetes. I am on the borderline so I have to get rid of this weight. Here is a typical day of what I eat
I get up drop kids off to school, drink a water, then eat a huge breakfast around 11am huge means 3 eggs, eggo waffles, bacon (the thick one cause ain’t nobody got time for the thin bacon) and a cup of orange juice…..then……………a snack at dinner. Yep….that’s my typical day. I do drink water all day coupled with a cup of sweet tea here and there. *cries* My problem is I don’t eat enough and I don’t move enough so I am on a mission to look great by the time I am 38 I have two years to lose 100lbs and keep it off. I want to do this for myself and I also want to lose weight so I can start dating again I gotta focus on myself first before I invite a man up and through my life so how will I do this? Good question
First I am walking more….almost 5 miles a day. My subdivision is pretty large so I walk that 3 times a week. I use to just walk to the mailbox and back but my kids and I decided to tackle the entire subdivision and that first week almost killed me but now I can walk the entire subdivision and I am not on the floor.
Second I am eating more than one and a half a day…I set an alarm and make myself eat Breakfast (smoothie or fruit), Snack (nuts or fruit), Lunch (a salad…not drowned in dressing…still working on this), Snack (a protein bar or something) dinner..(meat and veggies) Snack….ok I probably don’t do the last one because I am full but I try. It’s hard to eat so many times a day but I know I have to.
Third...Cutting carbs….so when I found out grits was carbs I thew that out. Now the kids and I watch our carbs daily if we have it in the mornings we can’t have it in the evenings. Carbs only once a day and no more than 3 times a week. We are eating more meat and veggies around here. I don’t eat bread that much but pancakes and pasta…..yasss gawd it’s bad.
Next….keep drinking my water. I am getting good with my water intake! That has been hard but I am sticking to that
Exercise more….yes I walk about 3 times a week but I have no time to join a gym because I do have to work and the only time I get is late at night. So I try to watch a exercise video and do one of those a day even if it’s 30 min. I park far away with my car now so I can do more walking and I don’t sit all day behind the computer I get up and move even if it’s just walking up and down the steps.
These are just a few things that I am doing for myself that I know I can do. The diets are nice but I don’t stick to them so I have to do what works for me. I am determined to lose some weight even if it’s a few lbs….I will do this and I need y’all to hold me accountable! What are you doing to lose weight?
