Kita the babysitter + Wed. Links

November 1, 2017

I love the kids…..I lied I don’t love the kids. I am going to be real babies scare me. I know I have 2 but my baby days are long behind me. I don’t change dirty diapers, I don’t have to babyproof my home, I don’t have to cut food up, and I don’t have to bath or change anyone’s poop. I also don’t have to feed anyone…so a friend of mine asked me to babysit a few weeks ago. This is the first time in over 2 years I have kept someone under 2, of course she had some questions and so did I….

Friend: Hey Kita, I am in a bind can you babysit my precious for me this Friday.

Me: *panics and tries to come up with an excuse*

Friend: I’ll pay you…..

Me: How much? That will depend on if I’m busy or not.

Friend: How does $60 sound for the day?

Me: That’s not enough but since I like you that’s fine.

Friend: Ok I have some questions because of course I know you haven’t had to deal with kids in a while

Me: Oh goody I have some for you also. You go first

Friend: Well we feed the baby organic things so I will send you with that stuff. Is your house kind of child proof because I can bring plugs and stuff to put in the walls? We also would like to know do you have child appropriate toys?

Me: Great yes send the organic stuff (we ate chick fil A…that’s kind of organic right), No I don’t have any plugs and no need to bring any. No I don’t do toys….I would suggest you don’t bring the ones you have because I will take the batteries out

Me: *now it’s my turn to ask questions* Do you have a jail pen, I mean play pen for the baby? Also, ask yourself if you truly want someone like me keeping your baby because I don’t normally follow any rules. When is the babies nap time because I like to nap also and I need to coordinate our napping schedule?

Friend: Yes I have the play pen why do you need it?

Me: Cause….I don’t do kids wandering all over my house. I got thangs to do. I don’t have time to be worrying about where the baby is at.

Friend: Ok I will bring that and she usually takes naps around noon

Me: Usually……this throws my nap way off…..

I ended up keeping the baby and we did nap. She went back alive and well!

Fall weather and Picnics…..I don’t know if I can do it unless I can bring a heater

I’ve got to get ready for Family photos starting this month….I love this idea.

My mom stayed in Tablots! I haven’t been in one since my mom died but I may have to check them out

I am a night owl and hate bedtime…..but this post is about the kids though

There are reasons people don’t come to your birthday parties. My number one reason is because I’m broke

I don’t know why Lasagna takes me all day but this recipe is by far one of the easiest I’ve seen

She say she 48 but chile please she gotta be lying

Number 12 and 13 is on the list for the holidays this year

Glad you survived! It’s not easy taking care of babies, especially if you’re out of practice. I hate when my SIL’s ask me to babysit my nieces and nephews because I can’t relate to little kids anymore lol.

Oh, I don’t do babies. Like you, I also have two, but when someone asks me to watch a baby I flatly tell them, “I don’t do babies. Sorry.” It’s just not worth my stress, but I’m glad you did it!

It’s that baby cry that I don’t like. You know when they start crying and won’t stop and you’ve done everything you know to do to – feed, change diaper and comfort – and they won’t stop. I like it when a child is old enough to tell me what they need. 🙂

Babies can be challenging for sure. My youngest is now a toddler and can tell me what she needs or wants. It’s tough when you don’t know why they’re crying.

This conversation totally cracked me up. Before I had children I thought a lot like you when it came to put to put them in and how to keep them safe at my house. I can tell you know being a parent is always nice to have friends that are willing to help.

LOL! I’ve had those same thoughts — willing to babysit, but terrified to expose a little person to my non-babyproofed home. I’ve usually survived it though.

I love to be around babies – for a short period of time. We have none in the family. I’m not sure how long it would take to baby proof our home.

Play pens are so handy to have if you babysit. I keep a few toys around for when my friends with little ones stop by.

Hahaha, you are hilarious! I would have ask the same questions. I like my nap time too. Isn’t it nice to have the baby days behind you!? I haven’t had to watch a baby in a really long time, but thankfully I do have some baby toys left, because I’m keeping them for my grand kids. lol

I’m with you. I’m out of the baby stage and when I look at people my age having babies I’m always like why, you were almost there!

I’ve always enjoyed taking care of children. Unfortunately, the people I know with kids don’t have babies so I almost never get to watch one anymore.

It’s not always easy to watch someone else’s baby. I’ve had two boys and sometimes I miss holding a baby, but to watch them, I always think twice.

You’re so brave! Babysitting other people’s babies scare me. Babies are so sensitive and unless you really know them, it’s hard to keep them happy sometimes. Glad you survived this experience!

Totally relate. I used to babysit for my niece when she was a baby because I was out of work that time. OMG. It was crazy. Plus I had a daughter in 2nd grade and two sons under the age of 5! The only time they were quiet was right after a meal. They all went to sleep and so did I!
