How to have fun at Six Flags without riding rides

I don’t ride rides. Let me go ahead and say that now. I am the bag keeper, the keeper of the bags, the bag lady. I go for the funnel cakes and Hurricane Harbor. On last week we were invited to check out the new Twisted Cyclone at Six Flags of GA and I was ready……to take photos that is. I brought along one of my friends and her family and we headed to six flags for a day of fun in the sun but first let’s talk about this ride.

How to have fun at Six Flags without riding rides

It wasn’t as scary as some of the other rides I’ve seen. It actually looked calm. I started to get on but my heart needed to stay in my chest that early in the morning so I opted to send my friends on the ride and I was waiting for them to get off so I can find out how it was. I waited and waited and they didn’t get off until after the 4th go round. That must mean the ride was the bomb! When they finally got off here is what was said…

It was so cool

It was so twisty

Can we go again?

So how do I enjoy Six Flags without riding the rides?

  • Someone has to hold the bags – That’s me! When someone needs to go on a ride or hold a smaller child call me. I enjoy being the guard over the bags and stuff.
  • Hang out at the water park that’s in Six Flags….that is where you will always catch me
  • I have gotten on the kiddie rides….I can do those lol
  • Eat….I get to explore the foods more in depth because I’m not riding anything so I can actually eat without worries. I taste all the foods!
  • Go behind the scenes. Some parks will allow you to go behind the scene of how they operate and how they put the rides together
  • Take the pictures. Did you know that at Disney you can hire a photographer to follow you around all day to take family photos so that you can enjoy your family? I am the picture taker so I get to take all the photos for others so they can have that memory
  • Go with your girls. This is fun to do because they will keep you laughing and will try their best to get you on the rides
  • Play the games. I want one of those stuffed animals so you can find me over in that area trying to win all the things
  • Be the guide. Since I don’t ride the rides I can actually hold the map and be Dora the explorer…..I’m the map, I’m the map, I’m the map
  • Laugh when folks get off the rides and see first hand the excitement of it. And their hair that’s normally not in place

Make sure you check out six flags this summer or any theme park in your area. Go in the mornings to beat the crowd so that you don’t have to stand in long lines. Pack your water and make sure you buy the cup that you can refill all day…those come in handy.

This I can ride but they won’t let my fat butt get on

This I will not ride…do you see that drop

I also saw some friends. Remember if you bring a baby I can be your babysitter and hold the baby while you enjoy the ride

Wear walking shoes and have your hair secured so it’s easy to swim with

Cool off at Hurrican Harbor

Hurrican Harbor doesn’t open until noon so be aware of that.

So do you ride rides? If you don’t how do you enjoy the park? Make sure you go on the Twisted  Cyclone when you are in Atlanta. It’s safe for kids around the age of 9 and up.

What’s your favorite theme park?

I was given tickets in exchange for a review of the ride. All opinions are my own.

I’m so glad you shared this! My family is all about the big, scary rides, but I am not. I can’t do it. They freak me out. It’s nice to be able to have some fun down on the ground while my family is up there on those crazy rides they love so much.

I rarely ride the rides because I’m a wimp. I just bring a book and wait for my daughter to finish. It’s also fun to people watch. Or I’ll stuff my face with food. I find ways to amuse myself!

I used to love rides but I don’t think my body could handle them anymore so it is great to have ideas on ways to enjoy a theme park without having to rely on rides.

I used to ride a lot of the rides at Six Flags but I’m not as into them anymore. I usually hang out with my granddaughter, who is a toddler!

That’s fun! I’ve been to the Six Flags in CA. I didn’t know there was one in Georgia or even that it had a water park attached. I’d definitely have fun in the wave pool and eating those funnel cakes if I didn’t like rides, but I love roller coasters. One day my boys and I will go hit some fun ones together.

Now that I’m a mama, I hardly go on rides anymore. I like the idea of being the designated family photographer – next time we go to an amusement park. I will do exactly that!

I could not agree with you more. There is so much to do at the parks. You do not have to ride rides to have fun. I love going to the shows they have

I really hate to ride on the rides too! I love this post because I also have fun at the park without going on a single ride.

This is a great post for me. My kids love riding rides but I sometimes avoid rides because they make me feel dizzy sometimes. These are great tips to still have fun at Six Flags.

My family love sSix Flags so much. We went last summer to Atlanta and had a great time. The rides are amazing…but the coasters…I hold the bags too. Thanks for all the tips on what to do next time during those coaster rides

Sounds like a lot of fun. I have never been to six flags, but I’ve always wanted to go. I would still go for the rides, but it sounds like they have so much more than just rides.

It does help to have a navigator for places like that so you can get your monies worth instead of walking about the same loop. I think I’ll be holding the bags from now on too. The last time I got on a rollercoaster I felt like I had to barf and I had a headache so bad. I’m scared of them now. That could have been a minor concussion. No joke!

I don’t enjoy the ride any more, too. More I grow up, I have more fears. I am ok to be this way. I am enjoying when I see others riding! 🙂

Great info, my oldest wasn’t much of a ride lover for a long time so we did a lot of walking around theme parks. I always loved the dance parties and characters at Six Flags when we lived up in Boston.

Our family has a membership pass we pay for each month. I love that we can get into both Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor in Valencia, California! So much fun!

I am such a scaredy cat when it comes to rides so thank you for the tips. I’ll enjoy the food and taking pictures while my husband and son are enjoying the rides. 🙂
