Social media Marketing is important and so many small businesses don’t feel they need it. When we approach companies and ask them who runs their social media account they tell us they do or their kids do. Here are some of the things people tell us when we approach them about helping them with social media marketing.
We don’t need social media we are doing just fine without it. Word of mouth works for us.
We love word of mouth…it’s actually how we succeed in our business. Contrary to what you believe it’s still needed but…yes there is a but, why not give social media a try. What is it hurting you? Word of mouth is great but social media can get the word of mouth to move faster. There was a time we didn’t operate without cell phones now…we can’t live without them. There was a time when faxing your resume was the big thing now …attach and go. Things change and companies need to change with the times. You want to always take your business to the next level…social media does that. Imagine putting up a post and tagging one of your vendors and then having that vendor invite you to partner with them….yes that does happen and yes it’s all by social media.
Example: We work with a company that sells jewelry. One day we decided to post about their jewelry and used certain hashtags. A few days later the company got an email from a boutique who wants to carry their line in their store. All from a social media….word of mouth but in an amplified way.
I can’t afford social media marketing so I would rather do it myself.
We get this one all the time yet your FB page has people on there asking questions from a week ago…no answers or likes. Why hire you when I can schedule my own posts out? This was a question I was asked on a phone call the other day. The answer is simple, we save you time, time that you can put back into your business. Why worry about social media when we can do that for you. We not only save you time but we keep up with the trends, national holidays, scope out your competition, create graphics, grow your social media, create posts that will get people to click, and more. Do you have time to do all of that? Most of you don’t but we do because it’s our job.
Think of it as this, you should have a budget for marketing. Make sure social media is a part of that budget.
What if others see negative comments about us online…
So what, not everyone will like you. Trust me…they won’t. If you get a negative comment use that negative comment and turn it into something positive. How can you do this? Answer the question openly and honestly. If someone says the shirt we ordered came in the wrong size how dare you send us this size this isn’t what we ordered you bish…..(someone actually used a word that was much worse but you get the drift) how can you run a business and can’t read. Although you want to cuss them out and explain that people do make mistakes you can’t. Try this instead: Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for the mix up and will send you the correct size immediately and as a way to say that we are sorry please accept this $25 gift card off for your next purchase. Use the platform to make amends out in the open which lets others see that wow you responded kindly, offered her the product and an extra bonus. I can trust this company because they care about their customers.
We make sure that we let our clients know when there is a crisis and we work together to solve it. What I said above actually happened to a client that we have and the client was so upset about it she didn’t know what to say…that is where we come in and we handled it (like Olivia Pope) we responded (with permission from the client) and the customer later gave raving reviews about how well we handled the mix up on her page which drove even more customers.
We mostly work with businesses when it comes to social media marketing but bloggers who need help can benefit from social media also. Especially those that work full time jobs but want to maintain a presence on Social media. Contact us today if you need help you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
