Does my son have a girlfriend?

My daughter is always talking about boys so I am going to get her butt but today on this Valentine’s Day I wanted to know one thing. Does my son have a girlfriend? In order to find out the details (he won’t tell me) I went to his friends first.

Me: Hey Does Dman have a girlfriend

His friend: Now Ms. Kita…what kind of friend would I be if I spilled his secrets

Me: Boy tell me if he does or not I won’t say who told me

His friend: Nope won’t do it but our other friend talks a lot go to him he will tell you

Goes and finds the other friend

Me: Hey buddy ole pal. Do you know if my son has a girlfriend

He tries to run and bumps into a girl…geesus I was just asking a simple question

The girl asked him why he was running and he told her nothing and walked away. So I asked the girl (they be knowing)

Me: Hey does Dman have a girlfriend

Girl: Yes ma’am he does would you like to know who she is?

Me: Yaasssssssssss

She takes me to the girl and says she won’t stand by the girl but will point her out to me as to keep the secret.

I see the girl…..oh…….she pretty and I know her mom. Great choice!

So I ask my son if he will be buying Valentine’s Day present for his nonexistent girlfriend

Dman: I don’t have a girlfriend but if I did I would send her a Valo-o-Gram (something their school has where you can pay a dollar and send someone a heart with a candy and a note)  to say something, but my money funny and I need video games

Me: Oh she will be dumping you soon…that’s if you have a girlfriend

Dman: I don’t mom and even if I did I would never tell you….you would embarrass me.

I would probably do that…there are no lies told here

Bwahahahaha. I guarantee you he has a gift for her now. You might embarrass him, but I’ll bet he listens. Good job saving his “non-relationship”. LOL

I have on child, a son, and he is now 14 12. I still remember the Halloween dance that I saw him talking to a girl and I knew that the next phase of lie was upon us. I do try to stay in his business, we are parents, we have to!

It’s so funny when our kids are like not into telling us something. I have heard so many funny stories like this from other parents before. Makes me laugh. What a fun conversation 😉

Too funny that your son’s friends wouldn’t tell you that he had a girlfriend. Kids can be so secretive sometimes.

This made me laugh out loud because I am the same way! My kids typically tell me things without hesitation, but when it comes to crushes they tend to try and keep information more private. They should know better since I always find out one way or another!

My son had a girlfriend last year. I didn’t like her, she had no friends at school…..but I didn’t interfere….and it was over after 6 months. I think it’s important to give them space.

I remember when my youngest son told me he had a girlfriend – and that was when he was in 4th grade. I almost fainted. How do these kids know about having a girlfriend?! That was the answer to my nagging question why he always had to take a “larger than usual” lunch to school. Oh well, it did not last anyway. Like your son, mine was more interested in video games than girls at that time.

This week has been crazy in my house. My girls are obsessed with having Valentine’s. I’m like, “Bye. You’re both young!” lol. I love that your son even mentioned Val-o-grams. When his money is right some girl will be very excited to receive one.

I’ve lived this. LOL my son is in high school now and he does have a girlfriend and I had to be the one to nag and remind him to get the girl something. He was really dragging his feet about and told me I was doing too much. I said I’ll be shocked if she puts up with you through prom season…. SMH. At least you get to keep your coins for now. Trust me when he really does have a for real girlfriend it’s going to have you in your feelings.

You’re a great detective. I am dreading the teenage years when my kid will want to have a boyfriend. I remember being so nervous about telling my folks, because they were always extra overly protective.

As I much as I don’t even want to think about my son having a girlfriend when he is older, I do look forward to funny stories like these.

I am not prepared for the day when my son declares that he has a potential girlfriend! I actually told both of my children that these things do not exist until after they graduate from college, get a job, and plan to marry! LOL!

I’m nowhere near this stage but it was always interesting to watch my middle school students and their relationship drama. There is definitely a strong sense of loyalty but there’s always someone that’s willing to spill the tea!

LOL!! This was cute. Boys are so secretive. Your son is surrounded by secret service haaa haaa!! His friends are loyal! I think my son likes this little girl in his class too and he’s being all silly about it. He made her a special Valentine while all his other friends got the store bought Ninja Turtles ones 😀

Isn’t it fun to see how your children handle love & romance at their age? My son is showing interest in girls too.
