I am all about cooking more at home and not eating out especially when it comes to breakfast foods. Crockpot french toast is the bomb if you want a great meal the next morning. I use a crockpot that has a timer. So it cuts off overnight + also mornings are not my thing and I go to bed late so this is the perfect meal for me to put on when I am off to bed around 1 or 2am in the morning.
First get Challah Bread from your local bakery. I only use Challah bread for my french toast
1 Loaf of Challah Bread
8 Eggs
2 cups Milk
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Sugar
For the Topping
¾ cup Brown Sugar
½ cup softened Butter
2 tsp Cinnamon
Cut the bread into roughly ¾” thick slices.
Mix together all topping ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
Spray the inside of your 6 qt. crockpot with non-stick spray or line with slow cooker liner
In another bowl beat together eggs, milk, cinnamon and sugar and set aside.
Place a layer of bread into your slow cooker. Then top with a layer of topping. Repeat for remaining layers.
Pour egg mixture over the bread.
Cook for 4 hours on low (or for 8 hours on the warm setting)
Serve and enjoy!
