Don’t leave me with the babies + Wed Links

My son goes to a charter/theme school. In order for him to continue to go there, you have to volunteer, its mandatory. I have to do 20 hours a semester. I am not the type of person that should be around kids cause they talk too much and sometimes I forget their age and start cussing at them. Normally I don’t volunteer in the classroom if I can help it I go to the lunch room with adults or help the front office out. I can only do a few hours of kids at a time this is how my Wednesday went.

Got to the school at 7:15 so I can do car line. Some of the cars mannnnnn I thought my car was a dumpster I saw one car looked like a real trash can anywhoo I go to the classroom at 8 I walk in the door my son acts like he doesn’t see me one of the other boys in the class whispered to him is that your mom he said yeah she always just shows up….excuse me? I should go and pinch his cheek. Got to the class the teacher saw me gave me some instructions and dipped out after about an hour…I was like son of bish….

One of the girls in sons class: Ms. Bryant why you always up here you don’t have a real job.

Me: Do you ask any other parents that

Girl: Yeah I ask all of them so what do you do

Me: None Ya

 Girl: What does that mean

Me: None of your business

Another boy jumps in

Boy: Dman says you can cook you bring us food

Me: Boi stop breakfast was a few hours ago your parents didn’t feed you

Boy: Yeah but I am always hungry like a hippo (he proceeds to show me the hippo dance of some type…I see who the class clown is)

Mind you the teacher left me in the class with 19 kids they started getting loud….

Me: Alright Y’all need to pipe down

Kids: Pipe down whaaaaaa

Me: Use your inside voices while doing the work the teacher left

They started to get back loud see I was nice then I had to get ugly

Me: *loud* Didn’t I tell y’all to use your inside voice shut the hell up ( I got silent on the hell part so it was like shut the……up)

*crickets*

Conclusion: As I said I am not fit to be in a class setting with 11yr olds I can’t control my cussing. I tried to be nice but nooooo they ignored me as if I was a ghost. They told the teacher what I said I told the teacher they heard wrong I told them to quiet down…she gave me a side eye. Little kids talk and tell too much.

Well after that sure they will put you back in the office or the kitchen working with other adults. That is one way not to be around little kids. Did you plan this out. Lol.

You crack me up. At my son’s school, parent volunteers are based on if the teacher wants them and the parents want to do it. I love going into his classroom as much as they will have me.

Oh boy, I don’t have the patience for this age group any longer. I don’t know how I survived volunteering, lol. But you are completely cracking me up.

Oh gosh, I don’t like volunteering at schools either. I never know what to say to other people’s children. I will help out at class parties and such, and I always feel awkward.

LOL! I’m laughing because this is me. I am not equipped to be around children unless they were mine. I, too, would quickly forget their age and proceed to give them a tongue lashing. I don’t like a lot of noise and I don’t have patience, hence the reason I have no kids!

Well you tried to warn them but they didn’t wanna listen. Kids do ask a ton of questions and it’s hard when they’re not related to you because it gets on your nerves quick lol.

Haha I don’t know how I would manage that at all, teachers are like, well I don’t know how they do it! I would definitely let out a word or two I shouldn’t.

Sounds like a tough experience and I hear you, a big bunch of 11 year olds is not my bag either. You handled it well and they are lucky to have you.

The school my kids go to we also have to volunteer. Although I do like being around the kids myself I can see where you are coming from totally. If noise really bothers definitely kids are not the way to volunteer LOL.

O…K….I do not think this type of language is acceptable to any students regardless of their age. Maybe a different position in the school around adults. I know that they probably hear a lot at home and away from home, but in the classroom. Kids can be cruel and I do understand because I have had that age group before. Never stoop to their level.

I am so laughing right now reading this post. I hear you that was a tough job esp. kids nowadays. I didn’t know some schools really required you to do this. Yes what if you are not capable to do the job.? I guess I prefer to help out on serving meal or maybe cleaning up here and there.

You know how some kids act when their regular teacher isn’t there. Sometimes they can get a little hyped. Looks like you shut it down and shut it down quickly.

I think I would go crazy if I had to volunteer at school for 20 hours. They would kick me out.

Lol I laughed at your honesty about forgetting their age and cussing at them at times. I fully understand you, I’m a mom of two but generally I don’t like kids and I would hate this volunteer affair you have going on.

I’m dying laughing. Listen, I worked in the classroom for a few years with junior high kids. There were definitely some days when I catch myself. LOL Overall, I loved being in the classroom and once a respect level was established, I had a blast. I love it when I go back home and run into one of my old students. They are always grateful that I was hard them and didn’t tolerate any cutting up.

Babies I love to be around, but babies aren’t in school (unless its preschool). I think the age you were with is a bit older, them I don’t enjoy nearly as much. I’d have no problem not cursing around them but am 1000% sure I would be correcting their slang and telling them to speak correctly.

I think that you made it through the experience in a very hilarious way, and you certainly know your limitations when it comes to volunteering at school.

Teachers definitely deserve a lot of credit. I don’t think I could ever be a teacher. I am overwhelmed even when I volunteer or run a girl scout troop meeting!

I don’t even have children. I do better with pets but really, I think you did good. You didn’t go crazy on them and all that, you just made sure they were quiet and behaved. Thanks for the links, except for that bread, I’m craving now!

That classroom is so dope. Girl, I cannot handle other people’s kids. I can barely survive mine. I’m dying! These kids think they can do whatever they want when the teacher isn’t around. I’m not mad atcha.
