Two Ways I support bloggers

I have been blogging since 2010. I started the day after Thanksgiving that Friday. I needed an outlet and I thought blogging would provide that. I felt that I could talk behind the computer and I didn’t have to be out there. Just write and keep it moving. Well…that went very well and my funny antics were the talk of the town. I went from being a nobody to having over 10k views on my blog a month. I shut down the blog because it was becoming overwhelming. What started as a hobby turned into people wanting to know more about me and since I am an introvert I felt it was too much. I also didn’t want to be known as a blogger anymore so I cold turkey quit that blog and went to do a magazine. The magazine was nice but I lost my core audience. Then my Husband died and the magazine kind of died with him.

I took some time off and then started It’s Really Kita based off of what my husband use to say to me when I said or did funny things. He would always say….Really Kita so that’s how I named this blog. Fast forward to 2018 and my blog doesn’t see nearly the numbers it saw when I first started blogging and I think it’s because to many people are in the pot. In other words, there are millions of bloggers out there. The only way you will last in this blogger world is if you have a unique voice and you offer more than just blogging. You have to offer a product or service and begin to think beyond the regular everyday blogging. Even these gurus who claim to teach you how to blog or how to make the money they make are falling down like dominoes. While I love to blog and write I know that it will never make me the money I need so I move on. That doesn’t stop me though from supporting other bloggers. There are 2 ways that I support bloggers…….

Bloggers Support Bloggers through Collaborations

Always support bloggers by joining in with other bloggers for collaborations. It helps both of you succeed. What’s the saying…2 heads are better than one. You can collaborate by doing a series together, you can take each other photos, guest post, do a FB/Instagram live, do something on youtube, etc. I collaborate with bloggers all the time and each time it benefits me greatly. I am collaborating with one right now to do a summer series with photography. I also collaborate with my girls from the Fab Five to do trips and work on sponsored content. Find your people and don’t be afraid to reach out to other bloggers. You don’t even have to stay in your niche. I know a food blogger who worked with a home decor blogger and they created a series called at home in the evenings. One did foodstuff the other did something to spruce up the living space or help you to declutter your area. A travel blogger and a mommy blogger can hook up and do a series about being on the road one can talk about places to travel the other can talk about whether or not it’s a place for kids or how to navigate the same travel spot with kids. Think beyond your blog and collaborate!

Bloggers Support Bloggers through Sharing

It sounds like a simple way to support bloggers but do you really share other bloggers on your pages? Sharing doesn’t just mean hitting that share button at the bottom of the post but it also means taking the time to visit their FB page and share a post on their actual FB page. It could mean giving them a shoutout on your instastories. It could mean mentioning their blog in one of your posts. It could mean retweeting something on Twitter or sharing them with a PR contact on something you think would fit their brand. Someone reached out to me the other day and said “Hey Kita I think you would be great for this campaign going on because of your funny voice and your photos” I applied and I got the campaign. That is so appreciated! I always make sure I drop names all the time to PR companies that are looking for other bloggers or if I feel that I’m not a good fit for something I recommend someone else.

Commenting is how I got all of my core audience. I use to go through all of my favorite bloggers and comment on each one after reading their latest post. I developed friendships with a lot of bloggers by doing this simple thing. Comment on their blog, their Instagram, or their FB page. Show up and comment it means a lot to me and a lot to others. To everyone who shares my FB page with their followers thank you. To everyone who reads my blog thank you! To everyone who comments and likes a photo on my Instagram page…Thank you. To everyone that sticks around in my crazy world…Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Do you support bloggers? Tell me how.  If any of you would like to collaborate with me please feel free to reach out to me anytime I would love to guest post on your blog and you are always welcome to guest post over here anytime!

How do you support bloggers? I collaborate with other bloggers, read and comment on their blog posts, and share their content on social media.

I remember your magazine and really enjoyed it. I absolutely love the story behind your blogs name. Blogging can certainly be very isolating and lonely so I appreciate the need to collaborate and support other bloggers. Unfortunately, I still don’t have my blogging crew yet, but I’m confident it will all click eventually. However, I do always make an effort to share opportunities with other bloggers and I’m big on commenting on other blogs. I always try to help where I can.

I had to get out and go to events to find mine but it’s still hard because most bloggers are clicked up and it’s like high school sometimes. I have a good core group that I can call friends but it can still be hard!

These are some great ways to help bloggers. I do share other content often! I haven’t really collaborated with anyone yet, but perhaps I will down the line.

Oh, and I am a big introvert too.

Good post! I hadn’t really thought about collabing with bloggers outside of my niche, will definitely move in that direction. I support other bloggers by commenting on posts.

These are awesome tips and thanks for sharing! As you stated, it is like high schools with some bloggers when reaching out so I did slack up in doing so. I do however make it a point to comment on other bloggers content. I also haven’t found a crew to assist me but I would love to link up with someone to be of help to them. I know in time mine will come.

I am a firm believer in helping others. If I know something and someone else needs help learning it I am all for that. The way I look at it is I want to pay it forward since somebody helped me with something I needed. These are wonderful ideas to help support other bloggers.

I’ve been blogging for more than 12 years and have been fortunate to have some people help me during that time. I’ve even been fortunate enough to meet a couple in real life.

Great post! Blogging has definitely changed over the years (I started around the same time as you in 2007). At one point I became disheartened because it seemed to have turned into filtered photos and facades. Anyway, it’s so important that we help and support each other. I do some of the same things you mentioned in your post. I truly believe there’s enough room for everyone – we just have to find our voices/niches. Thanks for sharing!

I also like to share other blogger’s content on social media. In fact, a number of social media sites want to see you share other content … not just your own.

Great tips for collabs! I started just a few months after you, in January of 2011! I hit burnout last year, and I kind of started slacking off in the posting department. I feel so bad about that!

Love supporting other bloggers and also those who are not bloggers. So much information we can receive from so many people on this platform. Collaborating with a blogger that’s not in your niche I didn’t think of that. Thanks for that suggestion. I’m collaborating with a lovely blogger friend who I met on this platform. We have become great friends and so glad to have found her and have her in my life. Kita thank you once gain for a great post.

I share whenever and wherever I can.

But I also offer an ear, a brain picking, and I purchase their products, etc. too, because that’s a way I can put my money where my support is!

I agree with all that you’ve said here. It’s really difficult to put yourself out there when you’re not used to everyone watching you. But like you I’ve also developed some really cool relationships with other bloggers, simply by supporting them in my comments on their blogs and IG and FB pages. That support is so important.

I’m ALWAYS for collaboration over competition. I support other bloggers by retweeting on twitter, taking photos and meeting up to get to know them individually. I’m pretty introverted, but I love seeing everyone “win”.

I also started blogging in 2010. I have seen huge changes in my traffic as well, but I think it is because of the new platforms that started. One reason I know my following dipped was because of a brief break that I took after my daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Now, that I still have the same blog I have to very intentional about my time and my collaborations. I’m still blogging and writing because it is something I love to do.
